Transcendere S5, from China

Wow. Judging from the pictures, this really seems like the perfect budget all-rounder. I can connect any kind of desktop speakers to it, whether passive or active. Two RCA-inputs, and a DAC with usb-connection. Daamn are you serious!?

Ok.. Whether my hype is all illusion or not, give me something!

If it's even mediocre quality-wise, I'd seriously give it thought.

Is it new? I can't really find anything over google..

Thanks

Yes.. and since it's power capability is only 6w/ch, it can't be that awesome..

But i do wonder, how it's headphone stage sounds like. My current adam a5's on my desktop sound a bit thin, so tubing might do them some justice..

Hmmm.. Maybe i should just order one and contribute something to our community, since no one seems to know about it much..

SNIP
But shipping is another $99, so it's really a nearly $500 unit. Still, it looks like a nice combo. I am looking for a tubed USB input headphone amp for my office desk. This is more than I had planned on but it is interesting. Haven't had any luck finding reviews though.

For the time being, Pale Rider, I would stay far away from AudiophileChina. Their sponsorship appears to have been pulled, in light of some questions over their "authorized dealer" status.

Appreciate that Sherwood. For now, I picked up Skylab's Jasmine T-200. Fits the bill nicely. Looking forward to comparing it to my iBasso D2 Viper.

25 lbs. shipped from China.

It only offers a USB input for the DAC and no coaxial or toslink inputs.
I wonder if it can do a good job with the K1000's.

It says in the description 110V or 230V but the picture only shows 220-240. Either there are 2 separate models, or it has a switching power supply.

Someone should take on for the team.
Then report back with pictures and impressions...

Seems nice.
Hope to see a review and comparison ^^

I have taken many for the team (Blue Circle, TakeT, and Jade) and the thrill of the chase can be quite rewarding, or...frustrating. Luckily, it's not $1000.

There is a lot of stuff coming from China, some of it, competitive state of the art, some of it look nicer in the pictures, then they actually sound on the desk.

Everything that I have bought for the team, had solid refund policies.
Does this amp have a "no questions asked" money back guarantee for a limited time.

Also, as stated by another poster, beware of a distributor that has had his/her sponsorship pulled because of bad business ethics.

Feedback is an oh-so-valuable tool.

The amp looks very nice. I'm very interested in this amp for my W5000 but afraid to plunge in given that it's almost $500. Besides, there aren't any detail on how the DAC performs.

Id like to hear about this one as well...

pacific valve stocks it now Pacific Valve & Electric Company Transcendere S5 Amp, Head Amp, USB DAC, Preamp

they do allow full 30 day refund

minus 8%.... Maybe someone could just strike a deal with them to review it?

they also have it listed under 'vacuum tube dacs' Does that mean the DAC section of it uses the tubes as well? or perhaps just mischevious listing on there part...
