Hmm, interesting. Compass, Zhaolu D3 or the compass....

The compass is quiet a bit over my budget, but if its worth the extra....

Build Quality, No Comparison

Yeah, go for the Compass. Everyone loves its sound, and it's built really well.

Man I feel bad. A friend of mine bought an upgraded Zero from Lawrence based on my recommendation. He though it sounded amazing and I guess it worked fine for a few months but I just found out that the right channel on his Zero died and it took the right channel on his HD570s with it. He got it around August of last year. It's not mine so I guess I wont really know the whole story but I kind of feel responsible since I gave him the recommendation.

Have there been anymore reported cases of fried headphones?

Not as far as I know, but overall longevity isn't looking good for any of these, sadly...

Reading this thread has made me put away my modded Zero in fear that something bad will happen to my Senn HD 800s (nothing would probably happen, but still...).

Yes, I wouldn't use the HD800s with such an unsafe amplifier. I bought mine with the amplifier section burned out intending to use it as a DAC, but the power supply section burned out after about 45 minutes. I'm glad that nothing was harmed.

I used my HD 800s with it for about 10 minutes, but I got worried, so I'm going to put away the Zero and get a more reliable amp. It would be a shame if they got destroyed right after I had just bought them.
