SOLD!
This receiver is good for 10-12 watts per channel into 8 ohms. I guess it can be used for headphones... K-1000 comes to mind but it might do fine with other phones (with dropping resistors perhaps).
Tube lineup in the audio chain is 5U4 rectifier, three 12AX7, one 6CG7 driver and four 6CZ5 (sub for 6973) power tubes. You may use 6973, 6CZ5, 6CM6 and 6EM5 for power tubes (I tried them all!). All tubes in this receiver are vintage and most are labeled Silvertone. Tubes test good and I've re-capped the audio section, so it is "ready to roll". Sound is very extended (including bass!) and very musical. I listen to lots of gear and this one is truly great!!!
Even the FM stereo tuner is decent. The unit is about 6 x 15 x 13 (HWD) and is quite hefty.
Although I sold the unit, I can recommend it to anyone looking for excellent sound at a bargain price. It has quality transformers and the original tubes are very good. Most of these units come out of consoles which are not used much. The only thing to keep in mind with any vintage tube gear is that coupling caps deteriorate with age and extended high voltage stress. Replace them in any used tube gear that you buy and chances are that you'll experience that "glorious tube sound"...
An epilogue, or epilog, is a piece of writing at the end of a work of literature or drama, usually used to bring closure to the work.
It might be a closure for me, but it's a whole new beginning to one happy couple!!!
