The headphone out at 100% is equal to the line out signal and has no capacitors, resistors, extra wire or soldier joints between you and the signal
which are both false statements. But, if you don't understand what is truly going on, you might come to these false conclusions. I didn't know that you could drive a headphone with 0s and 1s. Oh, and you have ripped your Fuze apart and know there are no capacitors in the HPO? So that means it is in phantom ground mode then, with additional circuitry to remove the DC offset voltage.
@ 5aces: the LOD works with your iPod, but the channels are swapped on the iPod.
