Wow! Sansa Fuze- color me impressed- Fuze appreciation thread - Page 25

No idea, didn't even know there were different usb modes sorry. Just plug it in. When i was on ham radio we called the guys who didn't know how the radios worked appliance operators. Maybe i am kind of in that boat now......oh no!

So i guess the answer is no you can't really drag the files and copy them back on your computer unless you are a computer guru or something. Oh well, i got 145 g back from my ipod 160. The bummer is that i ran out of space and was using my back up for new stuff and that is what failed so bye bye to 350 g of music minus the 145 i extracted from ipod. Just thought i would see what was on the Fuze that i didn't get back from the ipod and make my loss a bit less.

you can absolutely get all your music back. plug it into your computer and look in the music folder. you should be able to copy and paste it into your HD. the problem with the mtp mode is that it is a windows subscription mode and there are limitations on what you can do in it. the preferred mode is msc where it acts like a drag and drop usb key. unfortunately, you can't see the folders that are in msc while in mtp and vice versa.

Cool i'll try to copy and paste later when i get a chance and be back if i get it to work or not and check in. I vaguely remember trying to do it just to check when new and i thought it didn't work but maybe i was trying to drag it over. Thanks for the input.

So the good news was i could copy the files from my Fuze to my computer. The bad news is none of them will play. My winamp that has always worked for flacs will not play these, some kind of codec problem with all the files, the wav files it just doesn't play and neither will itunes. 24 ghz and i can't play then except on my fuze. The good news is i assume that i can exchange files and hopefully put these back at one point and they will still play on the fuze. Maybe this is a trick to keep music from being stolen or something.?

Were these subscription purchased files or were they your own? What mode were you in? Will they play in MSC mode? If you paste them into MSC mode, and take them out again, will they work? Just try a few mp3s at a time.

These are flac files and wave files from my cds and downloads at archive.org that are free lossless files that the bands allow with no restrictions on them. I have moved them around alot with no problem until now. None of them worked. I don't know what MSC mode is. Just copied and pasted and files slowly downloaded.

Here is the way in: settings>system settings>usb mode> msc or mtp?

My guess is that you never changed it from the default mtp setting.... but follow the above path and let me know what mode you are in.

No one has posted in here for two months. Any news? The fuze looks interesting but I wish I could know more about the sound quality. I've only owned one DAP and that was a Creative Zen Micro Photo. Can anyone compare the sound quality of the fuze to that player?

Has anyone rockboxed their fuze? I thought I saw someone mention it but I can't find the post.

EDIT: Did some research. Rockbox is only partially working on the Fuze. Link is below if anyone is interested.

Hmmm....I just picked up a Refurbished Fuze from Newegg. It has the dreaded headphone jack problem (clicking noises when other than supplied phones are used)

The problem happens when you insert into the Fuze all the way. It seems there is some kind of short happening. Pulling out slightly stops the clicking.

This is a known problem with the Fuze (just google it, or go on the Sansa forums).

What sucks is, this unit was returned "for some reason" and this crap is being sold as "refurbished". It HAS NOT BEEN REFURBISHED.

It has a problem that was first documented a year ago.

I'm very disappointed. My clip has no such problem.

a quick question, would the fuze be enough to run a pair of ultrasone Proline 750s?

Caved in and bought the 4gb one with the 8gb microsd today on sale, even though I definitely don't need another DAP (Got a Touch and a S639 already). Yes Head-fi, you best be sorry about my wallet!

I bought it mostly because of the FLAC support of the Fuze, though the SQ seems nice at first listen (thing I noticed the most was the big soundstage compared to either Touch or S639). I'll A/B it with the Sony for a while and sell the one I like less I guess.

I have this same problem with my Klipsch Image X10 and one of my interconnects. All my other phones in my sig do not have that problem however.

new firmware is great. I love being able to navigate through my folders

Well, so far I'm quite impressed with the Fuze. With Lossless files and amped, it sounds fantastic and more natural than my S639's. I'm definitely going to keep this as my exclusive Lossless player till Rockbox sees official release for it.
