Portable amp to headphones problem

Connecting my Grado 325i headphones to my Hornet portable amp (1/4" male into adopter/male mini that connects to the amp) is bulky and is putting a lot of pressure on the amp, deteriorates the connection and makes noises.

What is your solution?
Is an extra cable: mini-male to 1/4 female the way to go?

Grado makes a really nice mini>1/4" short cable that will solve your problem. Cost is about $15. Scroll down this link and you will find it.

Do you guys think that a better cable adopter, like from Signal cable will have any sound improvement over the Grado?
