Just a side note, while both my Headroom Total Bithead and Headroom Portable Micro Amp w/DAC can drive these cans, the extra juice from the Micro goes a long way toward more believable sound. So if you're considering these I'd suggest you be sure you have a relatively powerful amp (either portable or stand alone) to make these headphones shine.
I'm nearly deadset on getting these but for taking on trips/to work/to coffeeshops. They should be fine if I use them at home because I have a vintage receiver that should power them quite nicely. I was thinking about getting one of those Fiios amps for portable usage, though.

Keep us informed JMCIII. Also curious how the DT700 compares to the DT770?

In for a Dt-770 and a pair of CX300
Too bad the Canadian dollar is in a tailspin. But at least I have a friend who lives in nyc that can act as my PO box.

On a side note, anyone know if there is a guide on headband size? I got big head and wear glasses and headphones and that basically limits me to crappy plastic headbands since they stretch more.

Mine just arrived early. Will burn in today, but off the bat better than some say here. Perhaps a little soft on top, but nice overall and especially bottom. Decent mids. Less isolation than I expected though. A little hallowing sounding which would have been a problem at full-price, but more expected at this one. First impressions anyway, but happy so far.

EDIT: Will say they're going to have to change a great deal during burn in to beat the A900s, which are the other cans I have at work at the moment.

I have steered clear of these headphones based on much of the bad press they get here...but curiosity finally got the better of me. Just ordered them.

I found the DT770 very comfortable for me as glass wearer.
The headband is great too.

I find it hilarious that so many in this thread are willing to take a credit ping on a credit check for the sole sake of saving a whopping $10.

Yeah they're basically in V6 and HD280 price territory now and certainly far better than that (provided you want to use an amp).

I suspect the previous negatives and likely near future positives are going to be based on price/performance - as all audio reviews should.

I doubt it will make you feel any differently, but I made it a point to steer clear of the "bill me later" option. One less thing signed up for = one less thing to worry about, IMO.

One days burn in (24+ straight hours) and things are taking a turn for the better compared to straight out of the box. The overall cohesiveness is improving. Bass is opening up and becoming more noticable and accurate. Highs are still a bit rolled off but acceptable. Mids were very muffled on first listen - opening up now. Looking forward to getting 100 or so hours on these before I make a final judement, but unless they really fall apart they'll work for my intended use - late at night or early in the morning listening. I'll still be using my AKG K701s a majority of the time - but for $100 these Beyers are pretty darn good.

I'll report back as burn-in takes more of a toehold on things.

While some may have done so, others will have used it simply to take advantage of this sale and acquire these headphones now (when they might not have the cash in hand to purchase them) and pay latter. The $10 savings is simply a bonus. Is it a trade off? Sure, but then, so much in life is.

good to hear. now to find an amp, or at least locate my battery powered portable amp.

funny thing is I am getting this just for gaming late night.

Don't want to wake up my kid with the 1800w (RMS) HT late night

man, I thought I'd get these yesterday, but the more I think, the more confused I get. I don't think these will quite fill the niche I need filled at the moment, but damn am I ever tempted.

Also, I have a good receiver at home, but no good portable amps. Or any portable amps for that matter. That would dash any chance of this being 'portable' until I'm willing to shell out another 100 bucks or so...
