Is anyone familiar with Kelly Joe Phelps. He is one of the best artists I have stumbled onto in a very long time. He is a blues/folk singer. He has an incredible voice and is among the best guitar players I have ever heard. I heard him on the collection "Another Country: Songs of Redemption from the Other Side of the Tracks" this collection is unbelievable as well. I bought his album "Shine Eyed Mister Zen". It is varied, virtuosic and deep. There is some seriously badass guitar on it, and he has the quintessential blues voice. His rendition of Goodnight Irene really moves me ... but it could be because my would-be girlfriend in Vladivostok is named Irina. Well, check him out if you can, it is totally worth it. It is just him and his guitar, no interference from extraneous instruments or sound effects. Here is his website:

See my post several threads below "One gem in your collection, etc. re: KJP. If you do not have "Lead Me On", run immediately to the local cd store and scoop it up. This one cd is essential to your collection. You will not be able to stop playing it. While you are there you may also want to pick up "Roll Away The Stone". "Lead Me On" however, imo is the masterpiece. It should be part of every fan of lap style guitar and heartfelt moanin blues singin. Not implying in the same league as Robert Johnson, but heading into that canon.
