Limited, wooden portable ATH-ESW10JPN arrives! (with pics) - Page 4

<<Overall, I'd say that the ESW10 inherit the sound signature of ESW9,
the sound is improved and refined. Especially on bass, sound staging and instrument/voice reproduction.>>

This should sound great to me.

A refinement perhaps... but is the SQ £150-£200 better?

I am doubting that... If looks could kill (your wallet)!

I too doubt that the SQ is that much better than my late model ESW9. But it is something I wanted so I am getting it.

At least I will hear the difference and then know just how much better it may be if any.

I still think ATs driver tech has developed quite a bit even from the advent of the ESW9. I know the late model ESW9s sounds better to me and not nearly as muddy with certain tracks. It was essentially blown away by the sound of my first ESW9. So this is something of a quest to see how much different the ESW10 may be.

Speaker companies always refine their products, so it stands to reason that headphone companies could do the same. Look at how many headphone models Sennheiser has, at such close price points. Its not like they're all identical.

I've actually not heard the ESW9's, and was going to get a pair, until I found out about these. I'm glad to hear they're an improvement, as they should be for double the price. The improvement will no doubt be marginal to some, exponential to others. My attitude is improvement is improvement. The amount of time I spend with headphones, I'm willing to spend a few hundred dollars to get that extra something. And being limited, if I find I cant stand them (very unlikely) I can always sell them and recoup most of the cost. Thats the great thing about this hobby, and especially limited edition headphones. There is little to no risk with these.

I doubt it, but you could say this about 101 cans and higher models.

Also people will buy higher numbers at any price.

the pictures looook stunning i like the wooood omg... sad that i cna't invest on something so expensive! o.o

I don't think they'll limit the production of these AT's "limited" cans too much, as last few limited editions took quite a bit to sell out.

I might wait until price comes down a bit 530$ on pricejapan, not bad, but that's MORE than what I paid for AD2K!

great pics!

Well, I don't know about that. It has been mentioned several times that there is a definite number. They did that with the ATH-W2002 and the L3000 as well...

I also remember that both of those took a WHILE to completely sell out...as well as W10s, W11s, etc.

AT has so many "limited" models in high end segment....havent they released more limited models than non-limited for audiophile segment?
They look nice, but that's a scary price.

Heh! to quote Seinfeld: "Limited? You mean, 'Limited to the numbers of cars we can sell' limited?"

True enough. But I guess once they finish production of the given number, that's it. That's what I meant.

Agreed. That $600 pricetag is very expensive for a portable headphone!!

530$ on pricejapan!!

yeah, it's a scary price...even then.

I was amazed with my gf's esw9....now I just hope that she doesn't see esw10 and wants to upgrade..

I would think that once the demand of the "new toy on the street" is over, the price would go down.... we'll see.
