I prefer the ESW10JPN mids over those of my Edition 9, D2000 and RS-1.

I don't have those to compare to, but after 5 days with these just purchased ESW10JPNs on my head, I must concur that they are indeed my current favorite set of cans. Forget about being portable (too gorgeous to take out of the house, and who wants to risk a subway mugging over these beauties). However, when I must exercise my braggin' rights the HPP5 case is perfect protection. I purchased the ESW10 relatively new (with less than an hour on them), and have put another dozen or so hours on them since they arrived, and they seem to be starting to open up with use. Not sure how much time needs to put on them before they reach their optimum, and am wondering if I should just use and burn or speed up the process using pink noise. If I had the cash, I'd love to purchase a second backup pair, but it seems that new models are now hard to come by and current owners don't seem to want to be parting with theirs anytime soon, so they are likely only to escalate in price. Any idea what they are now going for? Anyways, this is my firstever pair of Audio Technicas, and I think I chose wisely.

What sucks is that as they go up in value over the years we wont be able to capitalize on that, because we like them too much to sell. The HF-2 will be another one on that list of "no longer for sale and price goes up but we wanna keep them and listen to 'em" kinda phones...

If I didn't just buy an ESW9, I would have been all over this but alas, are the 10JPN's that much better than the 9's?
