Limited, wooden portable ATH-ESW10JPN arrives! (with pics) - Page 99

Well.. those very well may be the LAST NEW headphones.. sure they pop up on the FS forum here for ~$500 but they're all used.. technically.. some more then others obviously, though that does add the bonus of burn-in

I hope they sell out already. So they are finally OOP and no new ones available

whether they are the last pair or not, I think its ridicules to expect people pay almost $1000 dollars for headphones that were just recently half the price.

I mean may be the price could be justified if they were sold out for a year or so and hence gained some value. but people could find and get these headphones just up until last month.

I think it just shows what kind of business he has. seems to me he just got some from ATH and just sat on them so he could make a big profit. even if he did just get them by chance, i don't think businesses (especially authorized dealers - not sure if he is) should be making such blatant profits buy increasing their last items to ridicules prices.

I had an opportunity to get a backup pair almost about 10 days ago from kakaku in japan and the prices were 40,000 yen. can't find them now though I'm sure some shops in japan might have one or two. Anyway the point is I didn't see those shops increase their price to ridicules amount....

I am listening to them now. Sweet but pay more than 500? I wouldn't. I would buy some HD800's.

Yeah there is much better ways for that 1000 bucks to be spent case and point jh-13's

There is at least two pairs on ebay last I checked and it was less than $700. Doesn't make sense to buy something from a dealer that jacks up prices just because he thinks he has the last one. The price wilson quoted me was $936USD with shipping included. At first I thought me meant SGD because the price seemed to be way to high, so I emailed to confirm the price. He confirmed that it was $936USD.

For anyone looking to get one, I'd wait.

There are a few of us (2-3) that have the ESW10JPN and are awaiting to see if the $1100 JH-13 can replace them.. if it does, I imagine there'll be some for sale at the normal $500 price point.

That's good to hear. I have seen posts about the JH-13. I would be very interested in reviews for them before I make plans to get them, much like I did for getting the ESW10JPNs.

Well, I hope the JH13 can live up to expectations. That's way I can get a nice used pair of ESW10 lol.

I'm having to resist giving these a try. I doubt they're the sound I prefer (love W5000s and Phonak PFEs with grey filters), but I know only I can determine if they are or not. I'm liking that they've been likened to Edition 9s and L3000s (although obviously are not as good), but I'm not sure if that's a sound I'd like. Also, I had ES7s and found them to be uncomfortable after an hour or two, which I've rarely if ever found other headphones to be that way. The ES7s left something to be desired in isolation (both ways). However, I do notice most people who bought these have kept them, including people who have tried a lot of different equipment/headphones, so they're obviously pretty special.

Isolation does leave something to be desired, but at least it does a great job of keeping your sound out from other ears

One of the best things about them is that they're not amp dependant to sound great.. due to their efficiency, they're even out of a HP out on a DAP.

I think it's a fairly easy decision... :]

I simply ended up buying two sets of ESW9's,and have not looked back since.Best portable can for the cash period,IMHO,of course....

L3000? I wouldn't say that, maybe the intimacy, soundstage but smaller, and mids but weaker, but BASS it night and day.
