I agree. I look forward to comparing both of them to the JH13 pro when I get them. An IEM to some very fine closed monitors. Should be interesting.

Yeah - the amp is important with Edition 9. My top choice is ALO Amphora, second is Travagans Red with AD743 opamps, then iBasso D10 with AD8066 or AD8599 opamps, then a variety of portable amps like Headamp Micro Amp, or Pico, then Vivid V1. If I recall, Grahm Slee NOVO wasn't bad either, and similar to the Red. The SS amps seem to do better with the Edition 9 than tubes, while the ESW10 does well with almost all my amps.

What to do?

I have by good fortune or misfortune ended up with 2 pairs of esw10s. My first pair is being recabled Do you think i should sell this new one i got today, or keep it as a backup?

Keep it long enough to see if the recable was worth the trouble, then sell one of them when the comparison is over.

Waiting on a fairly new pair (about an hour of play time only) of ESW10JPN's just picked up for the ghastly sum of $284 shipped. Will be pairing them up with an LD MK III amp and LD DAC 1. Should hold me until my HF-2s come in.

I forgot to check that auction in time You definitely wouldn't have had it that cheap if I was up early enough... congrats to you.. you'll love em.

Guys, they are nice, but I really dont think they are worth more than what he paid. Unless only used outside.

When I heard the Denon D7000 today, changed my perspective. They were bought for the same price and the difference is insane! The mids are typical AT and fantastic. But man the Denons are a whole new experience.

You paid 250 dollars or the same as the new price of the 10's?

I have an option to buy a new esw10 for around $400 dollars and am seriously thinking of getting it as a back up. just not sure if its a good idea as my esw10's are my only can at the moment (SR-60 left in japan inside a box waiting for me to return...).

I'm debating whether I should go for another can or just get a back up as I am very satisfied with the SQ of ESW10....

any suggestions??

Hey LevA, I also have two esw10jpns. One is currently in the process of being recabled and i have another brand new one at home. I bought 2 by accident, but after thinking about selling the stock (new ones), i am now thinking of keeping them. They are really very wonderful headphones and i have also read somewhere that if you can keep them in a good condition they also have a good resale value because of a limited edition I am even considering a 3rd pair, as than i can wear one in public without worry.

bah, never mind...they are already sold out......yesterday had the opportunity but I didn't get it like an idiot....
oh well, no more chance of getting a backup....

I agree with you, but both of them have different purposes.
