Got mine today!!!

Straight out of my H120 they don't sound that much better than the ESW9 but the soundstage is wonderful.

The yen prices of ESW10JPN haven't budged much. A proxy like Kuboten or Shopping Mall Japan will get you a lower price than PriceJapan will, although likely taking a few days longer to get it to you.

There's also that lone one on ebay still sitting there (and a WTB posted by a headfier in the FS forum concerning it)...

I cant compare to ESW9's as I've not heard them, but I still think I'm getting at least a little bit more detail peaking through these than the HD650s I have. I think they may reveal material further back in the mix.

On a jazz album I have, you can hear talking amongst the musicians very faintly. I never noticed it at that spot on the HD650s before, and its an album I've listened to countless times. And the HD650s were properly amped.

I cant explain it, but it is what it is.

I think they have the same, or almost the same detail and clarity as my balanced HD650s. Out of the Pico they sound very refined, though my HD650s are more refined and smoother. I find both to be equally enjoyable.

The HD650s win in long-term comfort, but the esw10s are far better for the office environment I use them in.

I think there is an assumption they cant compete with full size phones, but the cups dont seem much smaller than Grados to me, at least from memory. I've not had Grados for a while.

I'd be very interested in hearing more comparos between these phones and some of the full-size phones in their price range -- anyone have classic ATs to compare? I'd love to try these but not at 700.00 plus CAD. Dag nab our nosediving loonie!!!

best,

mine have about 35 hours on them now. I have been listening every 10 hours or so. They are drastically improved as I listen right now to yesterday morning when I received them in England.

I thought that the bass was significantly less in quantity than my ESW9, thought it was a bit more refined. Now at this stage of burn in, the bass quantity seems to have shot up a LOT in impact and quantity. It feels even more textured and refined now. I am really surprised, as my ESW9 were very bassy out of the box, but just got less muddy as they burnt in. The ESW10JPN is now rivalling the 'amount' of bass on the ESW9 whilst being significantly better in quality and tightness.

The overall detail is so apparent across the whole spectrum of sound. Instrument separation is significantly over the ESW9 to an increased degree now. Vocals are so natural and smooth.

I can't say enough good things about the ESW10JPN. I absolutely love them already.

look back to page 11 of this thread and SEE why your doom is sealed

Yep, these REALLY DO sound as good as they look
Because of that though, I'm deathly afraid of them getting scratched. Anyone know of a smallish hard case with foam that these could fit in? Right now I'm double bagging it with a larger better padded bag that came with my SR125s

Think there's any chance of a Canadian group buy? If we had ten or so in on it we might get a deal...

so we can get it down to 680 perhaps?

it has to surpass AD2Ks for me to justify buying that.

but then again.. this is the best portable cans in the market today....

If I was in a need of a portable, I think I'd still buy it at $700. I hate the feeling of IEMs in my ear Actually I'm thinking of buying another pair as a backup.

!

The idea of a group buy probably wouldn't float, these are limited edition after all...then again, I got mine cheap, $450 CAD during pre-ordering and before the CAD got murdered. I wonder if Harper's gonna do anything about this?
