Headphone brand stereotypes....

so...what are the stereotypes that you've noticed in brands...

for me:

Beyerdynamic: Bassy

Grado: small soundstage, good for rock

Denon: 'Forward' or 'in your head' sound positioning (found in the headphones and earphones)

Bose: I need not explain! :P

others?

Remember these are stereotypes and not definitive by ANY sense.

Sennheiser: laid back, slow and veiled if not amped properly (HD650)

Do you mean:
1) stereotypes that are not necessarily correct, or impressions that are unfounded?
-OR-
2) "These are vague generalizations about this line of phones that are somewhat true"?

If the first one, then yeah, I agree with nor_spoon...Senns are NOT veiled, and not necessarily slow, given a proper amping.

If you mean the second one, then I somewhat agree with nor_spoon...Senns are more relaxed and laid back in comparison to other phones.

Also, if you mean #2, then:
Grados are forward and aggressive.
Beyers are good for vocals and jazz.
Denons are great all-rounders.

Which phones smell bad and take our jobs away?

Here's a stereotype that I read all too often (not on Head-Fi though):

Skullcandy: best phones ever
