Wow, that would be awesome! Balanced Etys!

Probably silly question that's already been answered somewhere before, but:

Is it possible to have ER 4p recabled?

Can anyone give the link(s) to company(s) that do it, maybe with a price quote if one isn't directly available on that website.

I love my ER 4p, but most of the time I have to be very careful with the cable, as they seem to have some kind of electrostatic interaction with clothing.

How would the recabling (not) affect their impedance (ability to be driven by portables) and SQ. (I'd appreciate links if possible or a short summary)

s0fist, ask and ye shall recieve:
APureSound - Where The Music Is Always Pure - APS Audio LLC.
APS is the way to go as far as aftermarket cabling goes (just an opinion...). Recabling them is easy...the armature element (the "barrel") is connected to the cabling by two pins. If you have the older red/blue ER-4's, the colored parts are where the pins are. Anyway, order the length you want, any options, and Alex will get one built for you. For one thing, you'll have a continuous cable from plug to pin, not a spliced up mess that is the stock Ety cable.

The APS ER4-P is my all time favourite iem and would rank very high on my list of favourite headphones in general which is why I'm even contemplating the balanced option. An APS P cable wil come to around $200 +- depending on cable length and colour options.

Consumers are always caught up with how much something costs. Expensive does not necessarily mean "higher end". I personally prefer the ER4S to the UE Triple.fi 10Pro and Shure SE530. Both sound rather muddy compared to the ER4S. I do like the SE530's vast (for an IEM) headstage though. Maybe you're thinking about multi-driver custom IEMs? Well there are three or four reasons why custom IEMs perform better 1) better crossfeed circuits, 2) bespoke/custom balanced armatures, 3) multiple sound tubes for different frequencies, 4) perfect fit.

......in response to an early post in the thread - Ety has had a Bluetooth model in their lineup for aprox a year. Kind of klunky IMO.

ER-4 drivers need decent amplification to not to sound tinny, since we can't amp these bluetooth Etys, hopefully its amp is up to the task.
