hd280 or ultrasone Dj1?

Hello,

I'm looking for a good close headphone to listen with my mp3 player. I mostly listen to techno and my budget is 200$ max. The hd 280 and dj1 are the ones that i have in mind right now. Wich one do you suggest between these two? Or are there other ones I should look at?

Thanks for the help!

I would get the Ultrasone, myself, no question.

ive had both. the ultrasone is easier to drive and has much more bass. the senns have better highs. the senns also have a headband breaking issue.

look for 'ozma headphones' on ebay. alienware sells a rebranded dj1 for 60$ on ebay sometimes

Dam those are fugly but I'd rather have little kiddies where these because they actually sound good rather than some sh*tty Skullcandies I see everywhere.

hd280 or ultrasone Dj1

Yep, Ultrasone DJ1/HFI550.

I'd recommend the 280s, but getting them to sound good takes some work... and a good EQ. Though they'll take anything you can throw at 'em and still sound very good for the price.

Thanks for the tips! Unfortunately I cant try the dj1 because there hard to find where I live. But I was wondering, does their S-logic tech really work? or is it just another marketing gimmick?

some people like s-logic, some don't. With some headphones it works o.k., with other's (my icans) s-logic sucks. I love Ultrasone and Sennheiser, but my money would be on the Equation Audio RP21, which give far better bass than the HD280's. I'm not familiar with the Utrasone DJ's, but i am familiar with s-logic, and it really is hit and miss. The RP21's are all hit IMHO.

I've had many cans, but *I* fail to hear any S-logic effect with any of my Ultrasones -- they just sound like normal cans, with very good SQ.

The S-logic thing is what kept me from trying them out, but after I finally did, I bought several different ones, and all sound great.

My 2 cents.

HD-25 1 IIs for $200 on Amazon?

Do try the DT250s. You can get a pair for less than $200 from TTVJ. I really like them - the sound grows on you and keeps you listening to music. Get the DT250-80 version - easy to drive.

Cheers,
cansman
