Prophonic 2x-s and Shure E5 were definitely two distinctive ear monitors although both
adopted the dual tranducers for separate bass and treble response. These two produce totally
different sound wave. I was expecting Pro2x-s to be much brighter than E5 but it was exactly
the opposite. E5 seems to possess a bit more power and punches when it comes to stimulating
my eardrum and cerebrum. I've only had Pro2x-s for about two hours so my conclusion may be rather
shaggy but E5 does seem to require less power to drive. I may need headamp for Pro2X-s for
dynamics.

Oh, boy two more posts I will be 100+member!!

Yes, I tried it about few hours but didn't really like the concept of inserting anything too deep in my ears. Maybe I didn't have a good seal or soemthing but ety sounded sort of too light to me.

I promise you, you were missing a good seal. At least in my opinion, there is plenty of punch and bass (goes real deep). Do you still have your etys to do an A/B with Prophonic 2x-s? Or the E5? I'd be quite curious to see the results.

what made you get the thicker cord maddog? the thinner cord looks a lot sleeker from the pictures on their website.

In actuality this braided cable is not that thick and it's quite light. The reason I got this cable instead of teflon cable was that with the teflon, you get two piece cable, teflon cable comining off from the ear piece terminating to another black stereo cable that goes to audio unit. They said the black cable itself weighs about 4 oz while the ear piece with the braided cable only weighs 1 oz. I wanted something extremely light and comfortable. I think this is it. I am quite finicky in what I put on my ear and pro2x-s finally offered me what I need it. The ultimate comfort!

After a day, I did not experience the massive open-ness which I am used to with E5 and Pro2x-s seems less surgical/analytical but that makes less fatiguing to ear as comapred to E5. So far so good.

I'd kill myself if that happens. lol..but if I am with Britney, I will share the joy with Pro2x-s.

In short,
E5 = superb sound + comfort (??)
Pro2X-s = superb sound + comfort (no doubt!)

doesn't sensaphonic make custom ear molds for the e5? i thought i saw that somewhere on there site. i'm thinking i might go the e5 route because i cant see myself shelling out $1000 plus for the ue-7's (not to mention my wife would give me the stone cold stunner).
