Hi guys! I've read plenty of stuff in the is forum, but have only just registered to see if one of you lovely people can help me out with this issue:
I have a Creek OBH-21SE powering HD580's with the stock cable and have noticed that it can be quite susceptible to mobile phone interference. Now I live in a block of flats, so some very low level interference may be expected, however it can be quite annoying sometimes, particularly at low volumes (e.g. classical music) as the interference is not affected by the volume control. The interesting thing is that by grabbing the cable I can make the noise essentially disappear (it greatly reduces the volume anyway, as I've tried this using my mobile phone at close range), at least if I touch it towards the headphone amp. Now I'm a physicist and have some idea of the processes going on, but I'm a bit stumped as to how best to remove the problem, short of putting another layer of shielding along the cable! Incidentally, the noise is predominantly in one ear when using the first headphone socket, and in the other ear, but more central when using the second. I guess this is just down to the geometry of the respective amps.
Any bright ideas? Would you expect the HD650 cable to be an improvement in this regard?
Cheers,
Dan.
