Since this is a "most popular headphones" thread, would it be worth the time to add up these headphone counts in a graph to see how many people actually own certain headphones? Or maybe just the top, say, 20 headphones, or so?

Sorry guys I'll work on updating my spreadsheet... The computer with the spreadsheet file is currently with someone else so I won't be able to update in a while. I might upload it to Google Docs and if someone wants to help update it they can in the future.

Yes... but... perhaps you should distinguish between "popular" and "best sounding" phones.

From my casual scanning / reading this post, as well as, most headfi threads - the Senn HD580/600/650 series are the most "popular" phones by a fair margin (I group them because the "new" versions of these each sound very similar, or identical).

However, though they sound truly superb with the right set up, they may not be considered as universally as the "best sounding" phones - a status that seems to go to much more expensive phones, many which are no longer in production (e.g. AKG K1000s, Sony R10s, ATH L3000s, various Stax phones, etc.).
