Fiio E3 amp with RE2's

Just a quick report. Got the Fiio E3 amp from DealExtreme yesterday. For those unfamiliar, this is the tiny amp powered by a single AAA battery that sells for roughly $10. I tried it with my Head-Direct RE2 earphones.

I would not call the effect dramatic, but the amp provides a volume boost and a bass boost that does improve the sound of the RE2's for rock music. It's definitely worth the $10.

I got one yesterday and feel the same way as you do. When I got the box and opened it I thought the amp wasnt in it its so small. LOL. I just dont seem to like the extra bulk with the amp and my clip. I guess I am use to just the very small clip. I seem to use the amp very little and like the clip the way it is. Small and no hassel to use.

How does this compare to those cmoy Altoid amps? I had one of those and was pleased with it.

My custom built CMoy really woke up the RE2's... improved soundstage, more bass kick, yet still keeping it tight. Overall a great improvement to the phones.

I just got mine to use with my sennheiser IE7. I know some people here say that is not necessry with the IE7, but it was so cheap and provided a much needed volume boost. It pretty much saved the IE7 for me.
