Yeah, its a shame Apple don't come up with a fix for this.
Cause as I understand it skips playing Apple Lossless files, encoded through iTunes. Hence the files should be ok.

Especially considering the 2 1/2 year old 1G iPod nano play Apple Lossless files without a single skip.

It started skipping although it's not as bad as before. It only skipped 3 times while listening to music for an hour. It used to skip on every song before. At least the update fixed the wifi connection issues and safari seems a little more stable.

Wow. I didn't know this was an issue with my iTouch. I thought it must be because I passed files through MediaMonkey or something (their iTouch software is new). Yeah, I am having this issue with 320k MP3. I don't use FLAC on iTouch because I don't want to bother with Rockbox yet. So dumb that Apple can't fix this issue. It's like releasing a CD player that skips every track. Idiots.

You'd think it would be a slam dunk class action suit, seeing how people have won with such trivial issues as Harddrive Memory and Columbia House/ BMG.

I mean you can't just release a product advertised to do something, sell millions of them and just ignore the fact that it doesn't actually do it. I can't deal with the Apple reps, so I haven't bothered calling but I know from reading here and on Apple.com discussions they (the apple CSRs) act like they don't even know what you are talking about.

And the thing is a simple google search will show we are hardly the only ones that care about this issue.

I have a sansa e280 running rockbox and playing WAVs and FLACs and not a single skip. My sansa c250 also running rockbox plays all my WAVs and FLACs perfectly. My COWON D2 plays all my FLACs perfectly. I also used to own a Rio Karma, not a single skip. I have never heard a skip. Toss the ITouch or make a big stink about it so that Apple will quickly release a firmware that will fix the problem.

OK, so I just listened to a whole lossless album with no skips. Maybe the firmware update works. Or maybe I just got lucky!

Try it while putting the unit's display to sleep. Mine still skips.

Let's keep this thread on topic, everyone interested should contact apple to report the errors documenting via a case number.

There are many over on the apple forum upset by this as well, hoping for a fix soon.

It looks like the album I listened to was actually encoded with aac. I knew it was too good to be true!

Yep, mine still skips like a kid in a candy mall. I have been trying to keep positive about it, hopefully soon. It does indeed stink though.
