It's definitely not their strong point, buy them if you want bass quality.

Superlux HD668B looks like a better bet if it's midrange you're after.

Thanks! I just looked them up. Why are all the bargain phones with decent midrange uncomfortable? I don't mind too much or just adequate bass (I don't like too little) but I really don't like clamping forces. I like comfort.

If they're like the rx700's the rods lose their death grip after a couple weeks. You could probably just leave them stretched out on a speaker while they're burning in for the same effect.

Just got them RX700 recently for peanuts and i must say these really really punch above their weight! Seriously under rated cans IMO L3000.gif I used them for home but i did draw curious stares when i wore them on the train 1st time i got them and on the way home tongue_smile.gif

I love these headphones. Very comfortable. The sound far exceeds the price. This is flat out the best $30-$40 you'll ever spend.  In my opinion, these headphones are worth 3x-4x the price. Best headphone value south of the Audio Technica ATH M50s.

Received the 700's last week and gave then a good 100 hours burn in.

Great sounding headphones for the price.  Are they perfect?  No.  But at $40 delivered I don't care.  They rock with the Fiio E10 amp.

I've personally tried the HA-RX500, which is a different beast altogether, but JVC has cornered the market on cheap audio performance.
