Getting Lint out of iPod headphone jack

Thread Starter
Yeah, I some how managed to get lint stuck in my iPod headphone jack, and I have not the slightest clue on how to get it out. Has this happened to any of you? if so, how did you get it out?

I'd suggest narrow tweezers and a flashlight

A pipe cleaner might be worth a try.... possibly dampened with a bit of alcohol..

Compressed air may work but you dont want to blow it further in oO.
Try the tweezer idea and if that doesnt work hold the ipod upside down and gently blow with compressed air.

I'd try the tweezers first, a pipe cleaner might push it in further. Those bristles might catch onto it though, depends how big this piece of lint is
Or maybe a really thin wire; make a teensy hook at the end, stick it down the side of the jack, twist so the hook's centered and pull up.

Suck it out.

I've done the tweezer thing before (removed lint from the HP out as well as the docking port on the bottom), it works, and you don't run the risk of pushing it in further.

I too call for (very) narrow tweezers and flashlight; using the inhale method or vacuum method, you may be inhaling dangerous stuff, and you don't know if that sucking will damage other components in the process.

The main argument against the inhale/vacuum method is that it's lint; most of the rushing air will simply pass through it and not affect the lint's movement at all.

a vacuum's power will get it out, its designed to get crap thats stuck in carpets out, it will work its a no brainer, you risk scratching and damaging the jack with tweezers

Use a small drill bit. Rotate it then pull it out.

I'd give the tweezers a try. Unless your confident that it could be removed successfully with air you're running the risk that it will only become further entrenched.

I swear, the number one problem with buying used iPod's is the gunk that seems to accumulate within them thanks to thoughtless owners.
