i was very tempted by this, but i've been waiting long enough to buy a DAC that i went upmarket and ordered the one i've had my on for more than a year... the PS Audio DLIII with Cullen L3 mods.

Yeah I think this is a phenomenal deal. It's specs and parts sound very impressive and it is very likely that it is at least truly differential (I forget if there's a possibility of it being dual differential) which equates to being truly balanced which the emu 0404 usb while claiming balanced may not have been (If it was any sort of balanced it was probably just signal split via op amps).

It is practically unthinkable to imagine that you could have a truly balanced source at the price of 400 dollars.

Just placed a pre-order at Wild West. Hope to get my hands on it soon. Will post some impressions as soon as I get it. Now to order some good IC's before the DacMagic arrives.

What kind of XLR output does DacMagic has?? Female of male? because I've seen picture of 840c which shows it has female XLRs while picture of 840c on official site show male XLRs

Yeah, me too. The Keces must be a great unit and looks great as well. The DagMagic definitely lacks the looks of the Keces IMO, but I'll consider it. Can't get a DAC in the near-future anyway.

I personally prefer the look of the DACMagic than that of Keces.

Same here, with the looks and features, it was an absolute no brainer. Damn, now I have to wait. BJC LC-1 IC's on the way as well to feed the Gilmore Lite.

Got just last week the Musical Fidelity V-DAC. 170 € here in Barcelona (some 200 $). Very, very pleased. I've been listening to it all week with a MF X-can V3 headphone amp and both AKGs K701 and Senn HD595, mainly from ape and flac file in my laptop. -also some CD. Sound is excellent. Depends of course of other components, but mine are all moderate-to-low price, at the end result is absolutely phantastic.
An added virtue: very very small size. If you can do this at the price and in this size, this makes me think.. mmm

Notes:
1.- Listen mainly classical. In this very moment: Horowitz in Moscow (inspired live concert of the genius in 1986) . My buddy just revolved and couldnt resist to show interest - well this is the definitive test to me!
Also have revised Pink Floyd's Atom Heart Mother.. I'm still grinning.
2.- I'm not selling anything to anybody. Just sharing my (nice) surprise,
3.- The Senns were my buddy's favorites. I still definitely prefer the K701s.
4.- I looking forward to test the Corda I've ordered from Jan. I ordered the USB version.Will try them both with their built in USB DAC and through the V-DAC ....Shall keep you informed ;-))
5. Cannont compare to other DACs;this is my first. But I know it is difficcult to get good quality through USB, thereof my surprise.
