Indeed. It is a titanium plate placed underneath the clear acrylic. Makes the UE11 a little heavier too I believe.

I just sent my impressions off this morning for the C3 Triple Driver, so we'll see what goes. I choose to have the left shell brown with black swirl and the right a black shell with brown swirl. Custom art is a tribal sign for Aries (I have an Aries motiff going with my customs) in white. Asked Andre if they could outline the sign in a deep gold, he had to ask the lab guys about it. Haven't heard the decision yet, but should look pretty good regardless.

EyeAmEye, i can imagine how good it look, especially with the gold lining

sounds pretty, I decided on that dark purple I posted, transparent on the inside, with silver for the outside and a 5 pointed star that is just an outline in yellow and I'll probably put a few little crystals on it myself when I get it. (now keep in mind this is what I decided for today, I can't make any promises that it will not completely change by tomorrow)

Dark purple and silver is always a very nice combination.

toughnut, I figure the little gold will help bring the logo out a bit more on the dark background. Hope they can do it.

Hey There Gatto,

Get at least a dual driver. I think the color choice you've made (so far) is excelent !! I'm experimenting with some molding. I'm going to cast my impressions in a latex and paster mold and try different pigments in polyester resin to see what I get. I couldn't possibly make my own monitors because I have no electronic experience and I wouldn't feel safe puting them in my ears as I don't know whether the polyester resin is hypoallergenic .but I think it will be cool anyway

Is there anyone else out there who has heard these?

I'm definitely not questioning your SQ impressions, boomy, but I sure would love to hear some more reviews before plunking down the money. Looks are cool & all, but when it comes down to it I want a pr of IEMs that sound great!

The C3s have two woofers and one tweeter.... I'm afraid that they will sound like Shure SE530....

I'm sorry if I seem like I'm rambling and you're right I'm not atrue audiophile so here is an older review I read earlier

"HearYourself.com" in-ear review - Head-Fi: Covering Headphones, Earphones and Portable Audio

unfortunately customs are so expensive and the change from dynamic the balanced armature drivers is so strange to some that there aren't alot of reviews out there

I understand the desire for more feedback but reviews can only represent the sonic taste of the reviewer.

I know it seems like less risk if a lot of people like a custom but there is always more risk with a custom due to no return, no resale.

If I understand correctly there are only 2 driver manufacturers and HY uses the same drivers as Westone.

I am probably going to take the risk on these since the Triple Fi hurt my ears so much I had to send them back. Love the Trip sound , though.

Sorry about that, boomy. I sure did not intend to imply any of that....I don't think you're ramblin' at all & I also respect your impressions just as much as I do anyone's. As tomjtx said, I was just looking for more feedback. I appreciate that you started this thread & have given your impressions of these customs....it has helped give me one more person's feelings than I had before & is leading me in the direction of trying them myself.

its official, I'm taking the plunge, I'm getting my impressions done at an audiologist tomorrow (my parents were too nervous about me doing them myself) and I'm working out my color right now with someone at HY, I'll probably put in an order in 2 weeks on payday!

edit: and I will be doing with the purple and silver and a yellow star
post #73 of 1729
i think i'm taking the plunge also. should be doing the impression myself.

Wow, I'm impressed that so many people are ordering before me, I thought I would be the guinea pig

I am gonna order mine fairly soon but I can't get my impressions done till next week. I am still torn and dunno if I'm gonna get the AE3s (and a spare pair of AE1s) or the C3s.. So many decisions. Andre hasn't got back to me about the titanium plate thing but I think I am kinda going off it, I might just get them all a translucent blue kinda like boomy's ones.

Can't wait to see what people think of these, Gatto, what model did you decide to go for?
You Started it ! (this Thread I mean) I sure hope you all find them as enjoyable as I do. Gatto lives on the East Coast US so I think she's the only one close enough to hunt me down if I'm wrong . I also bought a Total Bithead amp from headroom but I sent it back because I thought it was too expensive (159.00 USD) but now I want it back! I tried a boosteroo through both the headphone out and the line out dock thru an adapter on the docking port of my iPod 80g video and it practicaly burned out my pretty little new monitors. I have a Fio $28.00 USD and a Travagans Colors $56.00 USD(red bone looking thing) on their way but if their anything like the Boosteroo I'll end up getting the Total Bithead back. The one thing I may not be taking into consideration is that the
C-3's only have 11 ohms of resistance and they may not need an amp at all. I just jumped on the "More must be better" bandwagon.
