Ipod and Itunes have a hidden secret about the way they download songs to their Ipods. I had to email Apple to find it out. If you preset the equalizer for each song seperately in the itunes library then I tunes will download that equalizer setting with the song as it syncs it to your ipod (See page 11 of this thread)

Yeah, I was reading about this whole dynamic vs balanced armature thing yesterday.. Balanced Armature drivers are better at reproducing a range of frequency but you don't get the impact that dynamic drivers give you. This is because a dynamic driver works like a normal speaker, just a lot smaller, so it can move a lot of air relative to its size. The futuresonics, in my opinion are RIDICULOUSLY overpriced! They're like $900US for a single dynamic driver? No crossover? I highly doubt these things cost anywhere near what they are charging to make. At least UE cram in 4 drivers and a 3 way crossover in that tiny little acrylic shell for your hard earned cash!

Anyway, I just got an email from Andre saying the same thing as he's said to you guys so I will probably order pretty soon. I think I a gonna go for the translucent blue colour with the Kanye West dropout bear on them since I can't think of anything else..

In other news, the aussie dollar continues to suck, making my money more and more worthless by the day. Awesome.

EDIT: By the way, this is the dropout bear (I posted it on pg10 as well)

Can anyone out there who's more artistically minded than me tell me what colours they reckon would go well with said bear? I'm thinking translucent blue but I'm not 100% sure.

I just downloaded rockbox for my ipod and after an hour or two trying to figure it out everything still isn't quite how I like it but so far its a lot nicer then the standard firmware, and it does have a lot of EQ options

Yah, I am semi-considering rockbox for my iPod. I have a 4G iPod that's sitting in pieces, waiting for a new HD and some other modifications which might end up getting rockboxed, just cuz it has FLAC support and I'm sick of converting my flac files to apple lossless. Having said that, my main iPod (80GB black 5G (might be 5.5) iPod, named Shaniqua) is exactly as she left the factory and I plan to keep it that way until she breaks.. 2yrs and still going strong, though

well if listenin to my atrios tells me correctly.. to me it's not how many drivers there are.. essentially it's how they sound..

and the atrios.. oh boy.. i dont' normally go for bass heavy IEMs.. but man i love the dynamic impact. And honestly, after using um1/2, klipsch, trip10, se530, and my freq customs.. none of them hold a candle to the atrio in terms of bass quality and depth and "naturalness" to the sound.

so if UE can charge 1.2 for their customs.. futuresonics can charge that much for theirs... it's that good.

as for rockbox, is there anyway to reset it back to original firmware?

I believe, from reading the rockbox website, you can run rockbox and apple firmware at the same time and switch between the two whenever you like.. Not sure about reverting back to the apple firmware but if all else fails, you could just restore the iPod in iTunes and that wipes the hard drive, as far as I know, thus deleting rockbox but also all your music, unfortunately.

rockbox is installed via bootloader. u can select original or bockboxed firmware while turning on the iPod. i sound like i'm having an iPod but i dont

check the rockbox.org for more info on usage and installation.

I've got all the basics of the system working now, I can't figure out how to get doom to work or load new themes.

Doom shd run fine, IIRC, once it runs, try turning on and then off the keylock at the top of your ipod.

As for themes, I installed it using the same software that is used for installing the rockbox firmware to your ipod from your PC. There is an option there to install themes...

I haven't read enough yet, I have everything dumped onto the root folder of the ipod and I need to sort it in order to get the OS to find it. Doom can't see the WAD file when it is in the root folder and the OS can't find themes in the root folder either. so far my only complaint is when it is plugged into a dock it turns on, even if its just my LOD cable.

I ordered custom molds for my Ety ER-4Ps from Hearyourself.com and am very happy. The right side did not fit perfectly (the audiologist took crappy impressions) and because of that, I found out that their customer service is awesome. They will take care of you very quickly and with no hassle.

Here are some pics:

Was there any difference in SQ? sound signature difference? And do you mind to post a pic of the "opening" of the eartip? Thanks. I'm interested in getting a pair for my ER4P/S too, because my ear canals are small and it hurts after a while of "jamming" stuff inside.

I will post some pics of the opening later. I am still waiting to get back the molds, since I just sent the new impressions (and the original molds) back to them late last week. I will do some serious listening once I get them in my hands again and let you know about the sound.
I have not used them enough yet to determine a true difference in SQ. However, if it's not illusion, my first impression was that they sounded ever so slightly warmer than before.
