Is the Sansa Fuze 8gb the best for its price?

I just want to make sure there isn't anything better in the $100-$150 price range. I'll most likely buy an 8gb micro sdhc card just in case, since they're so cheap, which comes to $130. I'll also primarily be using a pair of bose triport in ears (for now, anyway) and a pair of Denon AH-D1001's. Probably unamped, unless there's something really good that works with the Denons and the Fuze for $50 or less, which I doubt.

I have the Fuze's little brother, the Clip and they are supposed to have the very same sound quality. I can tell you that it sounds better than my 5th Gen iPod or my iPhone 3G, but I don't have anything beyond those things to compare to.

Another important note is that Ogg/Vorbis support is available in the Clip and is coming to the Fuze according to the Sandisk forum!

I hope that help some..

I paid $88.88 for my red 4GB Fuze at Wal-Mart, which was more expensive than found on-line, but I wanted it right then and there.

The main reasons I got the Fuze were because it sounds the same as the Clip (which it does) and its totally expandable (which it is).

So, you really can't go wrong if you want the 8GB. I say go for it.

All the best,
Brad

there have been sightings of a 8GB clip if you want to avoid the propietary cable, but they still dont have an expansion slot on it, shame...

That is disappointing.. I was hoping they would have a card slot in the 8GB. The other player I am somewhat interested in is the new Sony S63x series, from all of the discussion, it should be a pretty nice player at an affordable price.

I really don't mind the proprietary cable, long as I don't lose it. And I guess the fuze really is my best bet, since the zune is a much worse deal in comparison, and the iAudio 7 is made by Cowon, who is said to have orrible customer support (I can't deal with bad customer support, as I broke my last MP3 player, an iRiver Clix 2, and couldn't get through to customer support. It's probably partly my fault too fr buying a noreve case. Noreve is all flash and no real protection.)
