NIN - Page 2

I just want to warn you that for me it took 3-5+ listens to actually get in to both TDS and The Fragile, so be very patient, but once you are in the zone you wont be able to stop listening. I still strongly recommend to try to locate the Quake soundtrack (I recommend google). It is awesome for a game soundtrack.

The Downward Spiral was great for breakin in my es7's, a little bit like pink noise
it was my first experience with NIN, hard to get in but rewarding.
at one time i also had a remix cd, with a lot of 'honeys'? then i lost it, but that one was also good, totally different, but good.
...
no i think the honey-remixes were originally tosca... but i did mean a NIN remix-cd... great... now i have to find it again...

great live-performances by the way, saw them at sziget last year, great experimental electronic stuff. my gf totally freaked out and left to see some ballet

Broken EP is the best thing he ever did.

TDS is OK but then Johnny Cash went and covered "Hurt" and proceeded to beat the hell out of Reznor's original version of the song.

"Ghosts" is the ultimate burn-in album imho
It's got everything from like 100th order harmonics/white noise distortion to rumbling low-end and everything in between.

Broken EP is great. Really aggressive, gritty and loud. I love it.

You're in for something with both of those. As mentioned earlier, it may be worth getting the deluxe version of The Downward Spiral because there are some good songs on the B-sides disc.

The Fragile is a little hit-and-miss, because some of the songs break the over-all sound and feel of the album, but nevertheless it's definitely not one to miss. Also check out some of the other work surrounding this era, such as 10 Miles High and The New Flesh (I'm somehow confident you'll like that one) which were from the vinyl release, and also on disc one of the We're In This Together single (good luck at finding that at a sensible price).
Then there's also Still, an EP with quieter renditions of some original NIN songs, plus a load of piano based pieces.
