Unleash your wildest fantasies!
Which one would you pick up?
Real pictures included.
Come on in!

Gentlemen! Start Your Engines!
Porsche, Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Bentley, Jaguar, ...!
Which car brand would satisfy your fantasies?

The inspiration for this thread was provided by the Charlie Rose's interview with
the President of Ferrari and Chairman of Fiat Luca Cordero di Montezemolo.
I watched it on tv on June 9, 2008. It was very interesting.
(See here).

As we know, Ferrari is a legendary Italian race car and sports car maker.
All their cars are designed, engineered and built by Ferrai in Italy.
Ferrari Formula One cars are the best in the world. - Don't argue.

In the interview, the President of Ferrari very briefly talked about their recent models:
2008 Ferrai Scuderia (Extreme version of Ferrari 430), Ferrai 599, and not yet available
Ferrari California. He mentioned that both Ferrari 430 and Ferrari California would cost,
on average, $160,000 each.

By the way, he also said that Ferrari California would debut in October, 2008
in Paris and will be available in early 2009.

Charlie Rose asked him: having all the money, how long would one have to wait
to buy those Ferrari cars?

Luca Cordero responded:
Quote:
In this country? Charlie, because you are a friend of the President of Ferrari
you would have to wait 15 months (or perhaps 12 months).
Further Luca Cordero continued (accoring to a well-known European newspaper):
Quote:
The best place to work in Europe is Ferrari!
Ferrari provides fantastic work environment and opportunities for their employees.

To me, the most memorable moment of the interview was this.
Luca Cordero di Montezemolo said that he had been telling his co-workers:
Quote:
We don't sell cars - we sell Dreams!
I could not resist to add: Alleluia!

In this thread we consider only affordable cars in the price range, say,
way above $100,000 and way under $1 million.
The focus is on sports road cars which one can drive
on freeways in the USA, Canada, Australia, Great Britain, France, Germany, Italy, ...

Here are some examples.
Quote:
Yes, you too can own Ferrari's "entry-level" F430 for under $200,000.
It'll probably hold its value — it starts at $168,005 — ....
This is a steal! Come on, we're talking about Ferrari!

By the way, what kind of audio do those cars have?

First Ferrari California was sold for $520,000 in Santa Monica, California.
Arnold (aka Terminator) (see here) was there.
I guess that he might have said something like this.
"Ja, ja, ... Ferrari Kalifornia ist ein perfekt auto.
I werde kaufen ein für meine frau Maria!"

Note the difference in price: $520,000 - $160,000!
Well, I will wait till prices fall down to $160,000.

See you on the Ferrari Side of the Moon

Ciao,

Adam Ferrari California

I could buy a GTR V-Spec and pwn you all around a race track.

But I'd love to have a F430 Scuderia.

However, my idea of a daily driver is a Caterham or Aerial Atom, so take caution.

uhhhh...Caterham or atom doesnt have a roof - it would never work out as a daily commuter in here.

Then again, I take my ducati monster rain or shine. I have to leave it when snow starts falling though.

Exactly. People ride motobikes daily anyway, so a caterham to me is a 4 wheeled extension to that philosophy.

Yes, I like my cars full fat and hardcore.

Should I shoot you now or later

There's a lot of efficiency gains to be made by making cars much lighter and smaller than they currently are before we start sticking heavy battery packs and electric motors into them.

For Australia, hybrids don't make much sense in most cases because you're traveling at speeds where the petrol motor in a hybrid has already kicked in. A small diesel hatchback would net you better fuel economy.

Maserati MC12.

But in my dreams, I would choose a Mazda 787B.

Shweeeeeet.

^ that's it. And zonda R is coming soon.

You'd scrape the front splitter off in about 2 minutes driving it on the road (Watch the Top gear supercars in france thing to see what I mean).

Zonda is gorgeous in person though, and that AMG V12 is orgasmic.

I prefer the rawness of a Koenigsegg though. I love scary cars.
