Hi guys, I got a sony GDM-FW900 CRT monitor which looks greenish, for example, when you start your pc, it supposed to be black color starting, however mine looks green instead. I've tried adjusting but it's still there. So, can it be fixed? How? What's the problem here?

Have you tried Degauss and/or Image Restoration (this is what my G420 terms it; it might be different on your model)? The connection for 'red' signal on the monitor cable could also have gone bad so you might try a different, functional cable.

Nice screen btw. I wish big CRTs were widely available for purchase nowadays.

Well, they have 2 different kind of connections, they both look greenish to me so I don't think the problem there's a problem with both cables. I've also tried degauss, it still doesn't work. Any other solutions?

I take it then that you have tried both the D-Sub & BNC connections? Have you attempted "Image Restoration"? You could also try manually adjusting the Green colour setting so that you get a more balanced output.

Thank's zorander, I've tried image restoration, it seems better now.

Picture quality of CRTs are in general much better the LCDs. They were dirt cheap too last time I checked. Its too bad that CRTs arent widely sold anymore.

Keep unshielded speakers and giant magnets away

Some gamers swear by CRTs, but most of the professional graphics industry have moved onto s-ips or *va.. and gamers have moved onto using well-spec'ed TN screens.

There are few CRT's worth salvaging, the Trinitron notably being one of them, but I couldn't go back to using a CRT monitor.

TV's on the other hand are a different story. Maybe it's because I play too much guitar hero.

no doubt analog crt looks nicer, but they take up a ton of space. guess image quality isn't much of a priority for me. besides i tend to go for practicality over a slight edge in substance.
