AUDIO-TECHNICA HEADPHONES at HeadRoom! - Page 3

Tyl the AD2000s with an amp that matches well with it is IMHO potentially the best current production HP. They do seem to be tough to get though from non-Japan sites. I hope you can carry them if for no other reason than to make them more available.

I for one can't wait. I recently stopped by HeadRoom and tried all the headphones I could stand and can't wait to get my own W5000. They were absolutely amazing. And when you are comparing the wall of headphones HR has thats saying alot.

Howdy All,

Audio Technica headphones are now starting to appear on the HR website. Sadly, it looks like many of the models mentioned in this thread have proven to be discontinued or basically impossible for us to find... we'll keep a-looking though!

Expect more AT headphones to show up on the website over the next 30-45 days.

Cheers,
Jorge

Why are they so overpriced though? Audio-Cube sells them for basically retail value.

As a true 'authorized dealer' for Audio Technica headphones, HeadRoom has to honor all vendor MAP [minimum advertised price] requirements which non-authorized folks do not have to adhere to ....

Please call our HeadRoom Sales Dept for "best" price!

Jorge

Hmm, I'm sorry to say this (and no disrespect to your company either) but that sucks for the US customers. It's completely overpriced for the US. I get it, you have to follow the MAP that Audio-Technica states is value in the US. ATH-AD700 for example (since it's listed on your opening page); US MSRP $250 vs Japan MSRP 15,700 Yen ($155 US equivilant). 60% profit?!? That's crazy.

Please read what Jorge wrote, then think/analyze. You will realize that the posted prize being the MSRP may or may not be what you pay. For a better explanation call Jorge.

I highly doubt that it's purely 60% profit. In looking at he domestic cost, there isn't the same unit cost from the distributor, there's also additional transport as well as overhead and other operating costs that go into final price. Anyways, they do offer lower pircing, but you need to contact them.

Oh no... I'm not looking to purchase from them. I live in Japan. Much cheaper here. But I'm not talking about Headroom, I'm talking about Audio-Technica. I'm saying 60% from Audio Technica's side. ($250 - 60% = about $157). AT is very big in the recording field in America, transport is not a new cost. Taking any overhead into account, it's still not $100 extra worth. It's not good business if you NEED to put even 50% overhead on a $150 item. These AT headphones seem to be getting more popular in the US. Audio-Technica is making a killing in profit.

Measurements on HeadRoom site

When will the measurements for AudioTechnica headphones be available on the website?

The ATH-AD700 headphones are measured in the very interesting article "Between the Ears: the art and science of measuring headphones" by Keith Howard, Stereophile, August, 2008 (available at Stereophile: Between the Ears: the art and science of measuring headphones).

Hey everyone, the w5000 on the headroom website, is that the 'normal'w500 also sold by other companies? I know that the price shown is the map price but it still seems a lot more then what you otherwise pay for the w5000...
Greetings, Anouk,

Greetings, Anouk,
Anouk,

Unlike some vendors Headroom chooses to play by the manufacturer's rules and not display their selling price and they ask that you call for the actual price.

Several manufacturers set a minimum advertised price (MAP) for their products. When our prices are below the MAP price, we are not allowed to display our price on the website.
If because you are outside the US you don't want to call why not try shooting an email to sales@headphone.com, explain why you are unable to call and see if they'll quote you the price that way? They may send it to you, they may not be able to, I can't say for sure.

Greetings, Anouk,
Thanks Anouk, i'm not familiar with the Audio Technica 'w500' model -- so i think we must be talking about about the same ATH-W5000 'Raffinato' headphones --

Our HeadRoom AT retail prices shown on the website are dealer-MAP structured and reflect North American AT price increases recently imposed by the manufacturer in late summer '08; However, please do feel free to call OR email our HR Sales Dept [sales@headphone.com] at any time to obtain our "best" available prices on any item we carry!

Cheers,
Jorge

HeadRoom 'B-Stock' AT Headphones!!

Hello Head-Fiers,

We've recently listed a bunch of 'like-new' Audio Technica headphones on our HeadRoom B-stock webpage (below) at nice discounts! These 'B-Stock' AT cans are all HeadRoom review models used ONLY in-house for our own demo purposes. There's a couple of hard-to-find models on there and, of course, it's first-come, first-served -- it appears we only have one of each available on B-Stock!
