CX300 Burn-in? - Page 2

Sorry for the slightly off-topic question, but are you refering to the first CX300 or the newer CX300-II?

The first, I've actually just found a guy in my office who also has some and the difference between mine and his are phenominal. After hearing his mine are like listening to lift music. Needless to say they're now on their way back to the Amazon marketplace seller as defective and/or fake. I've ordered a set of cx500s from dabs instead.

I figure for the hassle factor I've earnt the next step-up in quality, anyway

if there was burn-in then it wasn't that noticeable. I thought they sounded great out of the box

Got the 500s this morning. They sound great, happy customer (finally).

Thanks again for the advice.

In general, Dynamic Driver require some amount of burn in to lossen up the diaphram in the drivers. Sennheiser IEM's are Dynamic and IMHO require around 100 hrs minimum of burn in. I've had both the 300's and 500's and they both got much smoother and bassier after burn in.

When I got my Cx300s I didn't like them much, the bass was extremely bloated and everything sounded loose. After a month or so of listening I found that everything tightened up a lot, the excess of bass decreased dramatically and the overall sound increased a lot. My pair definately burned in a ton!

I would have been able to live with an excess of bass, but a complete lack-of even with the iPhone's bass boost on was just too annoying. I got a noticable improvement switching up to the mdeium tips but they were uncomfortable and even so they didn't come close to the 500s I have now. I'm fairly sure that the 300s I had were fake.

If you do not have a decent mp3 player yet, get one as soon as you can(Sony, or Cowon), iphones' sound suck big time. Congrats on your CX500 purchase, they will keep you entertained long enough.

would a CX500 upgrade be worth it if I'm currently using a CX300?

i have the CX300

and the sound really improves by burn in

i hav about 100-150 hours on them

I don't think so. They sound largely (if not completely) the same, and while that sound may be worth the price of CX 300, I believe the CX 500 are overpriced. IMHO only reason choosing them over the CX 300 are the accessories.

yeah and i totally agree with that..

the CX300 is very good...

I can't really comment on the aspects on the sound quality, even though i've had these earphones for years. Why?

Because it would only really make sense if it's in the context of being compared to another earphone- provides the measure of SQ.

All that i can and will say is that they are durable as i've used them intermittently over 2 years and the senns are in a very decent state.

But most importantly, about comfort. Just outside the ear canal is where the body of the phone sits. Well actually more than sits, because it pushes on the walls and causes pain. Not good.

Would you have the same experience? don't know

i changed the tips with the smallest tip that comes from the blackberry bold headset.

that is the most comfortable tips i have ever used.

its very comfortable, i can wear it for almost a full day without itch or anything.

That's for sure. I just got the newer CX 300 II and realized how horribly distorted the bass is in the first few hours.
