The K400, 401, 500, 501 601 and 701 pads are all interchangeable. There are also threads on the virtue of specific combinations. Disregard the uninformed speculations above.

To sum it up for you, all of us, including the thread starter, knew the K400, K401, K500, K501, K601, and K701 pads are interchangeable. What he was asking was if that series' pads were interchangeable with the K240, K271, etc series' pads. Which the answer was a fairly simple no. The K240 style pads can be forced on the K501 style enclosure, but it's not easy and doesn't sound right, and the K501 style pads have no way to attach to the K240 style enclosure. Now what exactly about that is "uninformed speculation"?
