Etymotic ER-4P for $169 (Or, more preferably, the ER-4S, if you can stretch your budget by 20 more dollars) on Amazon.com

Etymotic is the best choice ~$200 for classical music. And if it's good for classical, it's good for everything.

^ I respectfully disagree. If it's good for classical, it might not be good for anything which would like a bass emphasis. Also, it might be fatiguing for long-term listening. Indeed, it seems like if it's good for classical, it's not good for much else.

IMO, in order for a pair of headphones to be good for every genre, the headphones must be balanced/have a relatively (perceived) flat response, aiming for a "live", as-if-you-were-right-there sound. Such headphones would be the Etymotic ER-4S and the UE triple.fi 10 pro.

The classical genre requires this flat response the most.

don't rule out the sf5p. You can pick up a pair on ebay for $170 or the for sale forums for around $150. They are incredible for rock, jazz, and hip hop. They have excellent bass that is not too strong in any way. The only downsides are their size and possible fit issues (but those fit issues are more than cleared up with comply tips).

I love my sf5p and have no plans of upgrading them anytime soon.
