pre-amp for an integrated Amp?

I'm planning to get the Onkyo 9555 integrated amp, but I have a Little Dot MKIV SE head amp which can be used as a pre amp.

My question: is it feasible to use a pre amp for an integrated amp which has a volume control to itself? any benefit or drawback of such a set up?

Lucky you having the Mk4SE.

The next model up from your's (9755) has a power amp direct function for preamp connection. Don't know the cost difference but you get heaps extra power.
If you buy the 9555 you are in the same boat as myself wanting to use my LDMk3 with my Denon PMA757 integrated (too add 'tube' sound into the mix).
I have been able to connect to LD to Denon via AUX input adjusting volumes. on both. What I have read though is that this is not the way to go for sound quality etc etc adding too many 'links' into the chain. It may not be a problem to do this. Probably lots of techy things about inputs, impedance matching and so on that others on the thread could add to.

Anyway... I am getting the Denon modded to use as power amp or integrated when needed (I still need phone section). Plan is to use the TAPE input wired to bypass the preamp stage.
Haven't got the quote but the Techy said it would not be too expensive and saves me buying a power amp.
Let us know what you end up doing.
