All,

I need help with a playlist of stalker songs for a Halloween party (dont ask...)

Anyway i think i need between 12-20 songs with that theme, preferably love related.

The two that come immediately to mind:

Every Breath You Take- The Police

Any suggestions; besides the whole Nine Inch Nails Catalog

It is also an awesome song.

Wow. What a great idea for a Halloween playlist!

I'm old, O.K.? So you may not have heard these. I would urge you to check them out. Older rock n roll is rife with this stuff...and you can probably find most if not all of these suggestions on iTunes.

Since some or all of these are probably unfamiliar, I included excerpts from the lyrics. Here are five suggestions. If you want more, let me know.

1) "I Will Follow Him," by Little Peggy March. The yearning instensity of the vocal, alongside the ultra-creepy lyrics, is way over the top.

I will follow Him, follow Him wherever He may go,
And near Him, I always will be,
For nothing can keep me away, He is my destiny.

I will follow Him, ever since He touched my heart I knew,
There isn't an ocean too deep,
A mountain so high, it can keep,
Keep me away, away from His love.

I love Him, I love Him, I love Him,
And where He goes, I'll follow, I'll follow, I'll follow.

Creepy enough?

2) "Everywhere That I'm Not" by Translator. (This is actually a great record, by a long forgotton post-punk band. I promise you, you won't forget it once you've heard it. Queasy, chromatic guitar line undercuts the lyrics. He's obsessed, and he probably needs medical attention.)

I thought I saw you.
Out on the avenue.
But I guess, it was just someone
Who looked a lot like I remeber you do.
I thought I felt your touch.
In my car, bu no such luck.
No. I guess, it was just someone
Who felt a lot like I remeber you do.

'Cause that's impossibe, that's im...
That's impossibe, that's imposs...
That's impossibe, that's impossible.

'Cause you're in New York, but I'm not.
You're in Tokyo, but I'm not.
You're in Nova Scotia, but I'm not.
Yeah, you're Everywhere That I'm Not
Yeah, you're Everywhere That I'm Not
Yeah, you're Everywhere That I'm Not
Yeah, you're Everywhere That I'm Not

3) "I Put A Spell On You," by Screamin' Jay Hawkins.
Needs no intro. And a great Halloween tune overall. Creepy, creepy, creepy.

4) "Run For Your Life," by the Beatles. You think John Lennon was a meek, peace-loving, nice guy? Well, he probably was. But this lyric does a great job of making him sound like a complete psycho.

Well I'd rather see you dead, little girl
Than to be with another man
You better keep your head, little girl
Or I won't know where I am

You better run for your life if you can, little girl
Hide your head in the sand little girl
Catch you with another man
That's the end'a little girl

5) "You're Phone's Off the Hook (But You're Not)," by X

Great L.A. punk band. Very disturbing lyrics.

i don't care who you don't like
you don't have to answer me
you don't have to answer me
you don't have to call me back
your phones off the hook, but you're not

Randy Newman's 12 Songs provides some wonderfully creepy songs. Your basic stalking song is:
Suzanne
I saw your name, baby
In a telephone booth
And it told all about you, mama
Boy, I hope it was the truth
I took down your number
Looked up your address, Sue
And I was hopin' that maybe
You could love me, too
I'm gonna wait in the shadows
For you to come by
I'm gonna wait in the shadows
For you to come by
And then I'll jump from the shadows
And try and catch your eye
Gonna run my fingers through your hair
And love you everywhere
Now I don't want to get too romantic
That's just not my way
But when I get my arms around you
I'm gonna rock you all the night
Gonna rock you all the day
Suzanne, you won't know it but I'll be behind you
Don't try and run away from me, little girl
Wherever you go I'll find you
And when you go to the pictures
And I know you do
Don't take no one with you
'Cause I'll be there, too
Suzanne

or not so much stalking as the girl is already dead:
Lucinda
We met one summer evening
As the sun was going down
She was lying on the beach
In her graduation gown
She was wrapped up in a blanket
(I could tell she knew her way around)
And as I lay down beside her
You know she never made a sound
On down the beach came the beach-cleaning man
Scoopin' up the papers and flattening down the sand
"Lucinda, Lucinda, Lucinda - we've got to run away
That big white truck is closin' in
And we'll get wounded if we stay"
Now Lucinda lies buried 'neath the California sand
Put under by the beach-cleaning man
Lucinda, Lucinda, Lucinda - why'd you have to go?
They sent her to high school
They sent her to low school
She just wouldn't go further

or maybe the subtly psychotic (if necrophilia seems a bit over the top):
Let's burn down the cornfield
Let's burn down the cornfield
And we can listen to it burn
You hide behind the oak tree
You hide behind the oak tree
Stay out of danger 'till I return
Oh, it's so good
On a cold night
To have a fire
Burnin' warm and bright
You hide behind the oak tree
You hide behind the oak tree
Stay out of danger 'till I return
Let's burn down the cornfield
Let's burn down the cornfield
And I'll make love to you while it's burning

great suggestions all including I will follow him.. I had forgotten some of the Randy Newman tunes and this crowd would appreciate that.

Good one on the Death Cab for Cutie song " I will possess your heart"

It's got that right element of menace in it as in the line "I wont let you let me down so easily"

It's right up there with Come Rain or Come Shines "happy together, unhappy together and wouldn't it be fine"

Anybody got anymore?

here is a little emotional stalker song that always goes under the radar.
"hospital" by the modern lovers
"Now... your world
It is beautiful
I'll take the subway to your suburb sometime
I'll seek out the places that must have been magic
to your little girl mind
Now as a little girl
You must have been magic
I still get jealous of your old boyfriends
in the suburbs sometimes
And when I walk down your street
Probably be tears in my eyes"

Where Do You Think You Are Going - Dire Straits

Quote:
Where do you think you're going
Don't you know it's dark outside
Where do you think you're going
Don't you care about my pride
Where do you think you're going
I think you don't know
You got no way of knowing
You got no place to go
I understand your changes
How long before you reach the door
I know where you think you're going
I know what you came here for
And now I'm sick of joking
You know I like you to be free
Where do you think you're going
I think you'd better go with me, girl
You say there is no reason
But you still find cause to doubt me
When you ain't with me girl
You're gonna be without me
Where do you think you're going
Don't you know it's dark outside
Where do you think you're going
Don't you care about my pride
And now I'm sick of joking
You know I like you to be free
Where do you think you're going
I think you'd better go with me, girl
From the Stalker Songs link above, "I Drove All Night" was listed as a song by Cyndi Lauper, then covered by Celine Dion. However, the original version was by Roy Orbison, featuring a wonderful black-and-white video (naturally) with Jason Priestley (of 90210 fame) and Jennifer Connelly.

Morrissey: "The More You Ignore me"

The more you ignore me
The closer I get
You're wasting your time
The more you ignore me
The closer I get
You're wasting your time

I will be
In the bar
With my head
On the bar
I am now
A central part
Of your mind's landscape
Whether you care
Or do not
Yeah, I've made up your mind

The more you ignore me
The closer I get
You're wasting your time
The more you ignore me
The closer I get
You're wasting your time

Beware !
I bear more grudges
Than lonely high court judges
When you sleep
I will creep
Into your thoughts
Like a bad debt
That you can't pay
Take the easy way
And give in
Yeah, and let me in
Oh, let me in
Oh let me ...
Oh, let me in
IT'S WAR
IT'S WAR
IT'S WAR
IT'S WAR
IT'S WAR
WAR
WAR
WAR
WAR
Oh, let me in
Ah, the closer I get
Ah, you're asking for it
Ah, the closer I get
Ooh, the closer I ...

Can't forget The Stalker by Insane Clown Posse, since it makes no effort to use metaphors or analogies, it just straight up talks about stalking a girl lol

"Secret" by Maroon 5
Great stalker song.

"I Want You" by Elvis Costello, perhaps the most intense song about jealousy ever recorded.
