I just bought a pair of rt5 for 50$ , I need an amp now but I don't know anything about speakers, I dont know if a t-amp can drive them. What would you advise me to buy, I think something warm would be better as the speakers are a little on the bright side and I prefer warmth

Hi

I have the Polk RT7's. 89dB sensitivity- the RT5's are the same.
Most reviews say the low power T-amps need higher efficiency speakers. >90dB. I know some using the Trends TA-10.1 with 88-89dB speakers no problems.
The power output ratings are deceptive as they get increasing disortion levels from about 60-70% of output apparently. Driving speakers is not all about sensitivity either from what I have read.
Depends also on what volume you need, size of room etc.

If you want more power in a T-amp you have to go up to the PopPulse T70i or Winsome Mouse ( both around 30-35 watts/channel into 8ohms).
Some T-amps (KingRex) have been reviewed as being more 'tube-like' which is what you may be after.
There's some reviews on 6moons for T-amps.

Or.... you could go for a tube headphone amp with pre out and hook up to a solid state amp. This would add tube warmth (depending on choice of driver tubes). This option also gives you a nice headphone option.

Or ...cheaper option still is get your amp and then just spend time on room treatment.

Hope this helps.

KingRex is pretty much out of my price range, maybe I should get a power amp + old little dot II to use as pre amp, well keep those opinions coming. We need fun sound with this setup, its for my shared apartment with two guys

If you need an amp o a pre amp, I'm selling a couple of metaxas amps and pre amps. like charisma III marquis III and Iraklis III or go for an amp like Solitaire

I don't know if any under $100 Class-AB amp is half decent. Sonic Impact TA2024 is the only popular option. Maybe you can find some other Chinese Tripath amps.
