Quality of the Blackberry Bold - DAC etc... - Page 2

Got my Storm, and using beta FW. It's a bit sluggish, and I'm waiting for Verizon to issue an official update (I've only seen 1 so far). It's good, but I'm hoping it'll get better. I just hope I can disable the accelerometer after the fw is released, as I hate the damn thing (hated it on the Touch 2g I had as well).

What do you think about the sound quality?
I think its actually fairly decent. A bit warm in the upper mids but quite detailed.
I do have my complaints though: the internet browser is sluggish. I'm typing this message on the storm at the moment and the key response is rather slow. Oh well. So far the reception doesn't seem to be great but in practice it's just fine.
I'm looking forward to new firmware as the storm really has a heck of a lot potential. There's so much going for it at the moment and there is much more it can do too!

Sorry bout the double post. The storm doesn't like forums.

Heh, when I use my Storm I hate to post w/it. But, since I have the beta FW, I seem to be able to type and browse much faster w/it.

Give it time, especially since it seems that RIM released it while still in the beta stage as well. In 6mos, this thing will kick everyone's azz!!!

As for the SQ of the tunes, I'm still loading them on w/J.River as I type.

It's a slight hassle for me to put music on because most of wha I listen to is in ALAC. I convert to AAC and copy them onto a microSD card. The Storm does a good job cateloguing the files and reads the tagging/art perfectly.

After reading this thread, I decided to try out playing music through my Bold, using SE530s. I was bowled over - the SQ is excellent, and comparing tracks side by side with my iTouch, the Bold won hands down.

Who'da thunk it?!

The Bold is free through LetsTalk.comwith a 2 year extention. The 9700 is comming out but it has a flimsy micro connector and a 2.5 mm headphone jack. Its nice and compact, has the touch sensitive scroll pad and a better camera but everything else is the same. The sound quality is the best I ever heard on a portable device, its nice and detailed yet smooth and easy to listen to. The bass is very nice as well, not boomy like most portables. Right now I'm looking for a nice wired stereo headset so if anyone has any suggestions please chime in. I even thought about going for some Yuin PK-3's or PK-2's since I am partial to buds.
