Hey All,
Are there any Blackberry Bold users or other berry users here using their Blackberry (w/ 3.5mm) as their primary portable audio source?

What is your opinions on them sound quality wise compared to say the iPods!

I've been wanting a Bold since it was announced, but looks like it'll be a long while before I see a CDMA version. I assume you're on a GSM network, since the Bold is out on Rogers and forthcoming for AT&T.

Personally, I'd avoid it if you want to be able to receive calls, as GSM radios put out enormous amounts of nasty RF noise that will drown out any music running through the same device (alleviated by enabling 'airplane mode' but then why carry a phone at all?)

I'll probably still get a Bold when it comes to my network, but I can't see using it as anything other than a casual source at best (i.e. use it because you always have it with you). FWIW, the Curve has nasty SQ (GSM version, I haven't heard the CDMA model yet); so I wouldn't get my hopes up, though I'd love to be wrong. Bold + 16GB micro SD + nice IEMs would be great if the SQ is decent.

Actually I've never had a phone interfering with itself before, but all my other audio equipments suffered miserably.

my pearl (8120) sounds half decent, not Cowon or Sony quality, but its ok,

I've used one thru the stereo bluetooth before. They give out a lotta bass but muffle most high end (sounds like your underwater).

I plan on getting a Bold soon here in Hong Kong, anyone else have opinions on the sound quality of the bold? I know it won't hold against my Sony A 829, but if I can consolidate my phone, entertainment needs onto one device, I can make the sacrifice.

More importantly, what is the max micro SD card capacity of the Bold? 16gb? Is that for real? That'd be awesome.

*edit* Okay, I found a link that says the Bold can utilize a 16gb card.

I'm getting more and more excited for the Bold, my dad has the iphone 2g, and mom has the 3g(which cuts in and out of service here in Hong Kong), after playing with them, I'd much prefer the email capabilities of my dad's BB Pearl than his iphone. The Bold seems to offer great email service with a really decent media counterpart... Not in the same boat as the iphone but close enough...

Oh you guys will love it, I love mine so much I sleep next to it every night.

I'd take my Bold over my dad and mom's iphone anyday. My dad is about to replace his BB Pearl with a Bold soon as well, he likes mine a lot.

I'm hearing nothin' but good about the Bold, and the Storm is just as sweet!!! I may stay w/Verizon if the rumors over @engadget are true: Verizon considering crazy cheap Storm pricing? - Engadget

The Storm has gotten great reviews on Blackberry fan sites.

Personally speaking, the Bold's music interface is even easier to use than Ipods(and much much better than my A829). The trackball scrolls better, and I can select a band I want to hear by tapping the first letter of the band's name on the keyboard. The sound is great to boot, not as great as the A829, but certainly better than my 5g ipod.

Overall, I am so happy that I can use this as a phone/music player in one!

most of us dump our Mobile phones default headsets.

but today i tried my Blackberry Bold's IEM ...and omg..i was shocked.

they sound much better than any free headphones u get with phones.

i would go to the extent of saying..they sound as good as EX85/EX90 of Sony..

and they aint Bassy like cheap IEMs but very detailed and balanced out

let me do some review ..i ll post it in other thread.

Kinda off topic, but how good is the Bold's internet browser? I'm basically looking for an iPhone 3G-like phone, but with more user flexibility. Is the navigation easy? Do webpages render quickly and properly?
