Some would say the W1000 and W5000 are very similar in packaging but have a large sound difference. I know my first ESW9 had a bass issue where I felt it got muddy with some tracks. My second pair and much later edition of the ESW9 is much better over all in sound in my opinion. I really thought that AT got the original ESW9 right or as right as that size package could get but I think they even improved it in it's later editions and now maybe and I hope they have improved the driver even more for the ESW10. Maybe they will have a real "mini-Leatherhead" on their hands now with the ESW10. Notice I say "mini-Leatherhead" not one that is equal. Time will tell I am sure.

Especially since the W2002 is way worse than the W1000, and the W11JPN is way better

God, those things are so gorgeous. How much do W11jpns or W2002s run these days?

The jpns sound pretty amazing right out of an ipod. No idea what they sell for, as they don't generally sell.

Am I wrong that you wrote somewhere that W2002 sounds great from out of Yoshino EAR...

Around $800 to $1000. There is a W11JPN selling on the FS board right now (unless it has been sold already).

I got a reply from audiocubes. They are stocking them from early October.

Luckily a friend of mine is wanting to buy my ESW9 off me.

I am going to end up with one hell of a portable rig soon! My Pico is on the next batch after the current one to be made. The ESW10 and either a Cowon S9 or O2 when they come out. To top it off an ALO super cotton mini to mini. I finally started ripping albums to FLAC too in preparation!

edit: I just realised that in the audiocubes reply the way the sentence is worded makes me think he possibly confused the ESW9 for the ESW10, as he says "The ATH-ESW10 will be avialable AGAIN from early Oct.
We will post back its web page accordingly and to have some stocks then."

I think they mean the ESW10 because the ESW9 IS online in their shop.

ATH-ESW10JPN has announced officially.
Audio technica news release(Japanese page)

The housing is made from machined Black cherry wood and lacquer painted, the 42mm driver unit is newly developed for ESW10. Impedance is 45ohm(slightly increased from ESW9 which is 42ohm).
The price is 60900 JPY and it will be launched at Oct 17th.

ESW10JPN is 1000units limited for Japanese market. I have already reserved one for mine

ATH-AD1000PRM, a successor of AD2000 has also announced.

$580 in japan, so figure about $100 more through pricejapan shipped. I'll have to keep my eyes out for cheap esw9s now
