The VSD1 is the latest in a rather long line of budget in ear monitors including the VC02, GR99, GR02 and others that promises high quality sound for around $50 or so. While I haven’t had...
I tried a few Grado's —didn't like the Grado house sound—, a few Senn's —HD650 left a good impression—, a few lower-end AT's —I thought the AD700 were impressive for the price— and after reading...
In my recent quest for a new set of cans, I took a slight detour into the land of flashy prosumer headphones, in the form of the HK CL. The only reason I tried a pair was the price: half off,...
The Creative Aurvana Live! solved a major problem for me—how to listen to good audio while walking the dog at night. I live near a commercial and bar district in Center City, Philadelphia and I'm...

I don't know if I'd characterize them quite like that but I might be inclined to say the SA6's are somewhat of a middle ground between the Ety's and something like the E530's.
I have both the ER4P and the SA6 and I can tell you, if my SA6 faulted out, tears would be rolling. If my ER4P faulted out, I'd be displeased but I wouldn't feel like I had lost an outstanding product.
The SQ of the SA6 is creamy smooth and delightful. But I think I have found a canalphone that I think will be...erm...keep an eye on the Westone UM2 thread...
I was looking to upgrade from Ety ER4Ps to something like the SA6 or the Klipsch X10 or X5. I have been very happy overall with my Etys. Just wondering if the Sleeks are an upgrade or just a sideways move to something different.
A different flavor, fuller sound with more bass a slightly more coloration, but with less treble extension. The ER4Ps sound very sterile whereas the SA6s are a bit more natural / warmer in their presentation.

Certainly more of an upgrade instead of something totally different, the SA6 is similar to the Etys when it comes to that sparkling mids with strong highs. The X10 on the other hand would be something different.
Keeping in mind that I am working through memory here, I have a hard time directly comparing the SA6 and the ER4P. The sound is very different. The SA6 is much more musical while the ER4 is what I would describe as almost purely analytical.
Note: had the ER4P a few years ago, just got the SA6 today.
as much as i love the er4(S), i would not call them sterile or natural or neutral. they are one of my favs but i have never heard speakers, live band, headphones or earphones that sound like them. they are not neutral or natural, they suck something out and i will admit to loving them but... far from natural.
