What's so bad about Bose? - Page 2

^^^ I have a Bose Wave CD Radio. I bought it for my grandmother when she was going blind. The buttons were big and easy for her to use. The sound was descent enough for her and loud enough because she had a hard time hearing also. When she passed on, the family sent me back the radio in the mail. So I have it and I think of her a lot. I use it in the kitchen on top of my fridge. I also have a Cambridge Soundworks Model 88 CD radio too. I bought this for myself. The Cambridge Soundworks was half the price of the Bose and has twice the sound quality and twice the volume of the Bose. It is superior in every respect to the Bose. The Bose is an absolutely terribly sounding product. If Bose charged $99 for it, then it would be a good value. The only good thing about the Bose is that the CD player doesn't skip. That's it though.

I have bose 2.1 and I don't like it. They are just good by appearance.

Their stuff sounds good but some of their stuff is tinny sounding like the acousticimass CD system for example. It's around $900 but from an A/B comparison, my mom's $150 RCA boom box had much better tone and bass. I was amazed how bad the Bose acousticimass was. Horrible horrible value.

In all fairness, their portable speakers are excellent. It's around $100. Not too expensive and great sound for portables. Construction quality is great too. Good job Bose!

I notice that some upscale restaurants use Bose speakers installed in the walls and they play music on a low volume with the surrounding noise. What a stupid waste of money if those speakers were expensive. They could have used a cheaper brand with identical or better sound.
No such thing as bose & great, unless marketing is involved.. They are ashamed to reveal the FR on their products for a reason. & retailers must sign a agreement to place Bose systems where people can't compare with other sound systems. Bose knows they are ripping of the public, lying, etc.. We got a Bose system in our warehouse.. My co workers were jumping for joy. I rolled my eyes.. Truthfully, I prefered our generic boombox over the Bose system.. No dynamics, veiled, no sense of space, like the music is squashed.. & yes, the music seems to sound too much a like.. The sounds not terrible, but not good either.

$550 to be exact. It is a ridiculously overpriced, underperforming item.

Bose-Fi - Beat A Dead Horse Here...

This thread is for the convenience of those who wish to research/review Bose products.

There are like 5 different active threads right now about Bose on Head-Fi, each thread pretty much expressing the same sentiment and repeating information.

In the interest of consolidating the discussion to avoid forum-spanning, a Bose-Fi thread is here for the convenience of the Bose audiophile community.

The amount of BBT (Bose Bashing Threads) in the forum isn't even funny anymore....

What's Bose?

Don't lie, we all know we'd hit it at least once.

I wish the mods would just ban any discussion about Bose. It never goes anywhere, never reveals any new information, always degenerating into a furious, masturbatory flurry of insults and diatribes on how much Bose sucks.

I realize that this would preclude us from discussing any Bose products, but that doesn't really happen here anyway. I can't even describe the Bose threads as discussion. Maybe one or two insightful comments.

I am not defending Bose or putting Bose down. I could care less about the company or their products. I'm just sick of clicking on a thread and seeing posts bashing Bose that are just so juvenile. -.-

Bose's claim to fame was the 901 Loudspeaker. It got great reviews when it was introduced several decades ago and was a good performer. Bose has been riding the coattails of this product ever since; introducing grossly over-priced, yet cheaply constructed products touting the same level of "innovative design" standards.
