FOR: Apuresound V3 Cable OWNERS

I am getting V3 cable for my HD650, my question is that: Is it worth paying for "super nylon" sleeving?
IMHO it is not a question of worth it or not -it is absolutely mandatory
post #3 of 25
Why mandatory may I ask? Decrease microphonics?
I would go for super nylon. I have both.

i dont care about the sleevings. i can live with teflex. i like them, too.
but again, if i had some spare money to spend, on a cable upgrade, i would spend more on plugs than sleevings.

i have e9 with v3 and hp2 with v2. they both sing very nicely.

I didn't find the microphonics to be that bad with the Texflex, but then again, when I did my listening I was usually very relaxed in my listening chair or bed.

Why have a pair of headphones as expensive as they would likely be for you to be recabling them, and spend that much on the recable, and that much on the rest of your setup, only to skimp on this comparatively small cost and allow something like microphonics to defy the integrity of your entire rig

That's just silly

I went for the super nylon on my Ed 9 v3

What is the difference in both cables? Like softer, lighter and more flexible etc.

How can microphonics change?

The super nylon is more of an ergonomics consideration than a sonic one, IMO. The cable is lighter, more flexible, and feels lovely to the touch with super nylon.

Techflex is more rigid and not as easily bendable, causing more drag at the headphones. I much prefer super nylon simply because I want the cable to 'dissapear' as much as possible when wearing headphones.

Main reason is because it's more softer, lighter and flexible. Haven't heard any major microphonics change.

I have one with super nylon and one without (yes, Covenant, I liked yours so much I bought another one!). I have not noticed any microphonic differences, but the techflex cable tends to coil up and become tangled, and for this alone I would get the super nylon, and as this is a 5m cable with a lot of potential for entanglement I regret not going for super nylon.

I went all out too, and am awaiting my cable now. I ordered it with super nylon and the Furutech plug...can't wait for the damn thing.

Golden Monkey,

My portable units are all 3.5mm (1/8) inputs, is there any advantage of Furutech plug (1/4) plug (sound wise)?
There shouldn't be any difference in SQ between 1/4" and 1/8" plugs, assuming there's no faulty shenanigans involved. I went with the Furutech over the standard APS plug (Neutrik) mostly because I like the way they look, and the fact they are all metal. Nothing's wrong with the Neutrik plug - I have one on my Denons, and it's nice and sturdy, but it's rather heavy. Dunno...I hear good things about the Furu's, so that's what I figured I'd go with.

Sorry to thread jack but, what kind of wait times have you guys experienced when ordering the V3?
