I am looking at purchasing a Pioneer PL-50 but don't know a ton about it. What is the general opinion here on quality, sound, etc.?

You lucky fellow Check if it has the straight and S shaped arm wands. But it's not a big deal if it only has one arm wand. Get it whilst it is in your graps. 90 out of 100 in my books. I could spend the next 20 minutes typing a long resume of it, but let's say it is a true high-end DD deck. The MKII is the best out of the series, and I rate it even above the legendary PL-70LII.

Things to check: bearing noise from the DD motor.

The PL-50LII came with two arm tubes that could be swapped round. I keep forgetting that the PL-50, which came before the LII, did not have this feature. No big deal. Still a great deck that you'll be very satisfied with. The PL-50 series was derived from the legendary Pioneer P3, which was the most successful high-end & high-priced turntable in Japan. Need I say more?

I have a beautiful PL-50 but it seems to be running FAST??? When I play guitar along with it (in tune) the music is a half step higher in pitch??? So it's running a little fast :(

Anyway to fix this? I couldn't find a speed adjustment or anything anywhere inside???

Thanks!
