yeah, that is likely where it would be. If it starts with a B, then it's made in the Blackburn Lancashire plant.

I checked, and I have a short-plate Mullard labeled 12AU7A/ECC82 that is from Blackburn.

Hi I got my direct EF1 last week for my HD 650, now around 60 hours burn in with the american AU7. i like the soundstage and the treble (that i found lacking for the hd 650 out of the box) I used to listen to them through a vintage marrantz receiver. The direct EF 1 bests the receiver for soundstage and clarity, but there is less texture to the sounds, i don't feel this "accoustic pressure" anymore. Any idea for tubes to render this feeling? I already ordered a RCA AU7 clear top. also what do you think about using a yaqin MS 12 B as preamp? It says it's desingend for a phono pre-amp, is it not suitable for a headphone amp? thanks

just got the yaqin for 120 euros, will let, you know how it sounds when i receive it...in 8 or 9 weeks ^^

Has anyone had a chance to try Fang's EF-5, which is based on EF-1?

I believe they just became available yesterday, so I doubt anyone has really had the chance yet.
