An updated K1000 with a different look would be pretty sweet. I'd buy one.

I pity the fool who doesn't buy a brand new AKG K1000.

Though I can understand why someone who owns a K1000 wouldn't want them to improve it, I certainly hope they do.

Hey AKG, if you are reading this, I wouldn't hesitate to buy one if you continued production, you have a guaranteed sale from me (As long as it is around the same price at it was released)
I don't think it can be the same price as virtually everything got more expensive during the years.

True, but even if the msrp climbs to $1,200, I'm sure it would be fairly easy to buy it much cheaper than that, at least in the USA.

EDIT: At least cheaper than it is to buy used now.

We can always hope!
But from reading the reply I received when contacting AKG about a worthy K1000 successor (or revival) it certainly don't look too promising.

Dear Mr. xxx,
Thank you for contacting AKG and for your friendly words about our K 1000.
We plan to launch a successor of the K 701 in foreseeable time, possibly CES
2010.

Kind regards
