Maybe they were recabled but I looked and I saw a pair go off for $1800 on Germany's ebay. I rounded up, to a college student $1800 is equal to $2000.

My k1000 is connected to a 300B tube based amp and I love it. It has a very nice tone and great clarity as well. I haven't heard the EL84 but I imagine it's probably good too brotha.
