Monarchy 22C DAC - is it competitive?

I'm in the market for a stand alone DAC and came across a mint condition Monarchy 22C for <$450.00.

Is this DAC still competitive in today's market, or should I look for something new in the <$1,200.00 range?

BTW, the DAC is going to be used with a Squeezebox v3.

If you go to Audiogon you will see that Monarchy has a sale on their NM24 DAC for $1080. I have one and I love it.

Do a search there are a couple of posts on the NM24.
