Denon CH751(700) vs. Head Direct RE2 vs. Westone UM1 - Which to buy?

I've been reading alot of the posts about which IEMs/canalphones are good or not and after some research on Head-fi I have narrowed down to these 3 IEM/canalphones (all around USD $100 in HK excl. CH751). I listen mostly to jazz and pop/soft rock plus classical (not as regularly though). So which one would be the best one for me? And the CH700 and 751 is identical right?

The C751 has a shorter cable with an additional extension lead as well as a carrying pouch. It's usually quite a bit more expensive than the C700, so if the short cable and pouch aren't important to you the C700 is just as good.

CNET seems to thing there is a difference between the two in sound signature, but opinion on these forums is that they are the same.

Sorry - I haven't heard the RE2 or UM1 so can't compare them to the C700. I can say that I think the C700 is a fantastic earphone (I listen mostly to classical, but it also handles dance and rock music) but that's not to say one of the other options won't be a better choice for you.

The C700s (or C751s, as explained above) are a step up from the RE2s, at least. The RE2s are a little better than C551 (the 700s lil sister). At least that's the word around here. Don't know how Westones fit in the picture. Does the seller on Amazon (where 700 is now $93 or smth) ship to HK? It might do.

The Deon in-ear phone look good. I'll buy a pair to use with my Fujitsu notebook but I'm wonder how will they perform together.

I can get it around USD $105 offline in a store which should turn out to be similar to what the price is on amazon given shipping costs.

If you can get the Denons at that price they would be the best deal of the bunch, provided you are ok with having less isolation.

What about the Phillips SHE9850? Anyone tried or have these canalphones? How do these hold up to the Denons? I'm asking because I can also get these for the same price.

Never tried or even heard of that philips IEM. You can always be the 1st to try new IEM that hasn't been tried in this forum then give us report of your new toy regardless it is good or bad . If you want the safe way, get the Denon .

$105 is a steal, but need to make sure it is not fake.

I check couple store online and all of them are selling them for about $130

I'm pretty sure that they're selling real ones. They're a head-fi specialist store and I think that also have offical dealership for Westone in HK. So I think the denons should be real (Westones should be as well for that matter).

I doubt they're fake Denons out there yet. They're just not as well known as the Senn CX300s (say) for it to be worthwhile manufacturing dupes, I think.

I've just found out that they don't supply the Denon C700s anymore and the C751s are out of my budget range. So between the 3: RE2, UM1 and the Phillips SHE9850, which one is best? Or is there another one thats even better? Remember I mostly listen to mostly jazz but with some classical and pop/soft rock thrown into the mix

How much are they selling the C751s for? Wonder why the C751 is more expensive.

You can get the 751s on buy.com for $99.

Also, they're more expensive because they have a shorter cable than the 700s and pack-in an extension cable and a case.

The short cable lets you use whatever extension/mic you want (if you're using a smartphone)

Having both the c700's and the RE2's (which are in turn regarded to have better SQ than UM1) I'd go the c700's for SQ.

$99 = steal.
(Bloody US getting all the good in-ear/headphone deals!)

The c700's are better in every way except for isolation, fit and aesthetics.
Not to say the RE2's are crap, far from it.

The c700/c751 needs a bit of burn-in tbh. I'd found that 30-35 hours burn-in is best, others have suggested 100 hours but I didn't find that to be needed for my ears. The c700's sound very harsh in the treble straight out of the box (and I like bright 'phones).
