I've just recently been starting to notice how much I like my SR-60s... so much that it finally convinced me (my poor wallet) to upgrade them to better ones.
These upgrades will be mostly used at home, on my computer. Right now I use an integrated sound-card that came with my Dell. I'm not sure whether changing the sound card will change the sound much, but I think investing on better headphones will be better than investing on a better sound card. But if I did have the choice, I would prefer closed headphones to open, since I figure it would be kinda nice for me to be able to use them outside of home... for example going to the school library to study or going to class time to time with them on while not looking like a total weirdo
The only amp I have is a Fiio, and it's being used by my portable rig. I was considering to buy an amp first for the portables, but I'm absolutely happy with my current portable rig and don't find the need to buy a portable amp for a sound upgrade.
With that said... my budget is around 200 dollars. It CAN go up to 300 dollars if I decide to sell my UE 3s and my SR-60, but I'm hoping I can stay at the 200 dollar range.
Some of the headphones I've been looking at are: Denon2000, ATH-A900 (which will go through something similiar to Markl mod), the upgraded Grados (mainly looking at the 225 and the 325i), the Alessandro 2s (used), or Senns (kinda clueless here), Beyerdynamic series (completely clueless here as well).
My music preference would be in following order: acoustical, pop, ballads, soft-rock (especially ones around the 60-70s), and classical.
